Can't hurt to ask - that stinks that Temple won't reconsider but I guess they all have to have cut-offs that work for their administration process. Good luck!Well we sent in our appeal letter to Temple. Long story short my daughter took ACTs a second time and scored a 33 but Temple says it's too late. Was already offered $5,000 a yr. The 33 would get her ALOT more money. Guess we will have to wait and see. She was accepted at Syracuse and given $25,000yr also before the score of 33. Guess it's worth sending them an appeal letter also. She's still waiting to hear from FSU. They do take the Feb ACT score so hoping for a decent offer from them. Should hear around March 16th.
Disneyland in y'alls future???? How exciting for your DD, what is her category? It has been a very busy week here. We have been working on DD appeal letter, we adopted a puppy named Jack and my daughter competed in Deca state competition. She placed 7th in her category. They take the top 6 and the 6th place person placed in two different categories. You can only participate in one category at Nationals so he dropped out of my daughters category. Which means she is now headed to Anaheim CA to compete in Nationals. VERY proud of her!! This is her first year in DECA
WOOOOWHOOOOO!!!!!Presidential scholarships were announced at UB-ds got it! Anyone else?

Looks like a great mom raised a great son!My son just texted to say that he decided to go in and tell his guidance counselor what he thought about how the valedictorian situation was handled the other day. She apologized and told him that it's never been so close before, and it's never switched before. I hope that knowing his viewpoint changes the way that they handle it in the future. I'm also proud of him for calmly going into discuss it. It has taken everything in me not to give them a piece of my mind, but I know that wouldn't be productive. I'd love to see the numbers, but again, that's only to satisfy curiosity, so I'll behave.![]()

Did I read on here that someone's child had heard back from RIT? My DS applied there and it is one of his top 3, none of which we have heard back from. Waiting on Uof Colorado/Boulder and also NC State/Raleigh. His major will be aero space engineering/mechanical engineering. Honestly this uncertainty is really difficult. We haven't visited any of these schools as it seems they went on his list at the last minute, for their aerospace programs. He applied to 5 others and has gotten accepted to all of them, but only 1 of those offered both aero space and engineering. I think RIT says, "by" mid March and the other two are March 31st and April 1st. We are going to have to put our running shoes on for visits if he gets into all 3, I doubt that will happen. Are most of us in this limbo mode!?!

DS got an $80,000 academic scholarship from one of his backup schools today! Breathing a sigh of relief right now.
I've been following this and I would be absolutely disgusted. They should have said nothing. They have no idea how it's going to play out so they shouldn't be guessing and getting a kids hopes up. I'm glad your son went and told them how their error affected him. I would also want someone to review the numbers just to make sure. Good for your son.

20k a year. It brings this school down to in-state public school range for us. We are relieved. Is that per year? Or $80,000 over the course of four years? Either way, nice job!
He came home and said that it was down to the thousandths place. He's good with it now. I'm glad to see that he was able to bounce back quickly once he was able to process it all.But another thing to show how this guidance office works...they told him today that his friend was 4th in the class but that he can't say anything about it. That is just wrong on so many levels! I told him to keep his mouth shut in case they decide to switch that decision.

I've heard of schools having co-valedictorians, too bad the school didn't offer it. And I agree, there is all kinds of wrong with the guidance office telling him about his friend. Have they never heard of FERPA?
Niece got into her second choice school. We are waiting for financial aid. I'm hopeful.

DD got her "offerings" from Minnesota - Tuition went up 9%, housing went up and they offered zero - the price tag is now $41K, too high IMO for what one gets. When we first looked the price tag was $33K DD is off to Hofstra next week to tour and attend accepted students day. Their offerings have brought the price tag into the somewhat reasonable range for a private school and under the in-state with housing of UT Austin.
