Parents of Children Pin Traders Beware

I'mnoprince, I love your towel! My youngest has a bed just like that and a million pins! We've tried bulletin boards, etc, but haven't been happy with the results!

She had first taken some fleece and mad a few banners. They were from the fabric store and we put a rod through them they were Tink and a general Mickeyone .

But what she has them hanging on now is not a towel.

It's an original Park Banner from the Magical Gatherings in MK a few years ago.I couldn't believe she wanted to put her pins on it as it's a heavy vinyl .It has worked out great but it looks like we may have to get the 6ft one out soon that I have put away.I just didn't think she would want to punch holes in such a great souvie.

My girls just did trading for the first time in December. I got them each a lanyard and some pins off pincastle, just an assortment.

They only traded with CMs and honestly we don't know good from bad, valuable from invaluable. They just traded for ones they liked. Kept it easy and fun!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: No problem Just don't let it happen again :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I just didn't want anyone thinking a towel would be a good choice .We tried and they just never laid correctly on it.I guess if you tied down all four corners but we did just the top and it caused all the pins to hit against each other.

I have tons of pins as does my entire family. I buy them from favorite sellers that have never done me wrong on ebay.

I put a money limit on the pins I bid on $3 and always get discount shipping. I buy double on princess pins.

I have had many little girls look at lanyard and parents also. We have a wonderful collection. When a child looks at my pins I usually ask if they have been good. Or at least tried. If yes, I give them the pin they want.

I have been blessed with many things in life and if I can share a little piece of magic for about $4, It is another blessing in my life.

I have traded wonderful pins with CM and my favorite is the YOMD I traded on the first day. I got it from a manager and I have never seen it since.

I use barrel locks for the favorite pins and the little guys lanyards. The ones we trade have rubber backs. They do fall off so easy.

Have fun, back to the magic soon.

I started my 2 nieces on pin trading in Oct. They loved it so much, they only traded with the CM's

When DH and I went back in Dec we asked the girls if they wanted more pins, of course they said yes. The older one wanted Tink only and the younger one wanted Ariel and Daisy only. Well I had a devil of a time finding Ariel and Daisy, no pins inside all of WDW.

I was so disappointed until our last night there, we went back to DTD for more shopping and I met this very nice older couple (70s) in front of the pin trading circle. They had books full of pins and they had a ton of Daisy and Ariel! Since I was buying pins not trading the woman offered to go inside the pin station and pick out a few pins she wanted and I could give her those and she would let me pick out pins from her book. Such nice people.

I dont think you should only trade with CM's, just look at the pin they person is trading before you hand over your goods. Watch what the kids do a little more carefully.

I wish I still felt this way. However, I have found the overall pin trader culture to be rude, selfish and just the personfication of the "anti-Disney" LOL! I am sure you don't fit that mode, but I have no desire to get started again.

Of course, I don't fit that mode!!! :)

But I have certainly witnessed what has discouraged you.

On another note, years ago we use to get Disney pins from Cheap Pins. There were great pins that were around $2 a piece if you bought them in bulk. I use to keep a few pages of them in our pin book and would let people trade anything for one of those pins. It was a lot of fun.

My son caught on, and one day he surprised me on the monorail. He was sitting next to a boy who had a Chef Mickey pin on. My son asked him about his pin and if he collects pins. The boy said he had just eaten at Chef Mickey and this was his first pin, but he'd like to collect them. So my son dug through his pin book and found a monorail pin for him and just gave it to him, since he was riding the monorail. His whole face lit up. It's fun helping people pick up on the pin trading addiction.

My daughter dealt with a mother and son from New York area (originally?) who were set up at DTD with their pins. My daughter evidently had a princess pin from the 100 years i think that would complete the ladies collection. She told my daughter to pick any pin in her books and my daughter could have it (even limited editions) My daughter couldnt decide between 3 pins so she told her to take all 3. I know the lady was getting what she wanted to complete her collection which probably upped the $$ but I felt she was very fair with my daughter and let her look and look until she found what she wanted.

We watched over the whole thing and just felt they were ok people. Otherwise we only let her trade with CMs

Thank you for getting the word out. We bought the starting sets last year and wanted to trade but never saw a pin we wanted more, so just ended up switching with each other.

I know my BF's DD trades and they are heading to the World in March so I quickly emailed a note to her to be on the lookout.

One question, was the OP by herself with her boys. I ask because the other poster stated when her DH walked up the man took off. I am wondering if he is only sending his children over to trade with children that are alone with women?

This just makes me mad!:furious:
