So much so that we took him on
DCL again for his 18th b'day last Nov. It was his choice where to go & what to do. We gave him the choice of any cruise line, amount of days, etc.
His first DCL cruise (2nd cruise, tho) he was 16 & loved everything about the cruise. Before going he wanted very much to cruise, but didn't think he'd like the teen club - said it sounded 'boring'. I went to the
castaway club website {see my next reply below} & had him look at the detailed info of the teen activities. That perked him up a bit, but he still was hesitant about some of the excursions that they do & thought some of the activities sounded corny (not his word).
However, I asked him to at least try the activities because it could be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. He agreed & I have to tell you that he absolutely LOVED the teen group, made a lot of friends whom he still communicates on-line with & enjoyed almost every activity that he thought he wouldn't like. We'd run into him & he'd say, "Can't talk. We're {doing this or that}". It was funny.
Anyway, obviously it wasn't a one-time thing because he chose to go back 2 yrs. later & he had a great time again. Of course, he is a pretty outgoing kid & makes friends rather easy. That makes a difference, too. My other son (12 last cruise) isn't as outgoing & he still had a great time. He's begging us to take him along on our upcoming cruise - he'll be 14 - just to experience the teen club. We'll see!
