Parents have passed away..... can we continue to use DVC points as Associates -- long term?

I quickly searched the DVC Member site and they have a lot of legal documents and definitions, etc but I did not see anything referencing legal process for transfer upon death .
I guess this is something we should understand and ask about when we purchase. That’s no fun !

Unfortunately, I know exactly how this works because my husband died last year. We held the DVC deeds through living trusts (50% for each of our trusts), and it was a straightforward process to change title through a title company. If we didn’t have estate planning documents, it might have been more complicated. So many reasons to have those documents in order. We put them in place when we both a house together more than 20 years ago.

Thank you for asking this question. We were toying with the idea of making the kids associates but now I think we'll just add them to the deed instead.

Purchase or transfer the property into a trust…..
the filing fee is less than 50 dollars.
you can buy a trust paperwork from staples or google it and draw up your own….
once the deed is on file with DVC all you need is to call Disney to update the membership

For some reason I thought a trust had ongoing fees attached.

Not to the best of my knowledge, but that also depends on if you hire a trustee to manage it or not.

I would call an attorney in you states, or look at legal zoom if your a DIYer
