Parents Arrested After Child Found Abandoned Outside Disney Ride

"When they entered the attraction, Juan Carlos thought Danette had their daughter, while Danette thought Juan Carlos had her. Shortly after, Juan Carlos went back outside to move the stroller to a designated area, but failed to see the little girl, he told deputies.

The parents only realized their daughter was missing when they exited the ride. "

How is it that they realized she was missing, he went to move the stroller, supposedly didn't find it but decided it was better to hop back in line and ride POTC?

FWIW, I found that part of the newstory really vague. It could be the way you read it.

But I actually read it as the bizarro way many newspaper writers tell their stories, where you start from the middle and slowly work your way into chronology... so the "end" of the story is that each thought the other had her, but the start is that they weren't on the ride together, they were separately riding, and that way it would be very easy to think the other person had the kiddo.

BUT why he thought to go move the stroller is an unknown.

I'm not defending them. But I'm not going to put too much into that paragraph in the story, because it could go either way.

This news breaks just as a horrible horrible woman is finally starting the process of a trial in my area, as she had abused her foster daughter for TEN years. There were multiple complaints over all of those years, even from the police, to CPS, and each and every time, until the very last time (while living in the same apartment complex that we lived in), she told the social workers that the girl was a liar, the complainers were racist and had it out for her, etc etc etc, and they believed her. I'm fairly disgusted by humanity right now....:sad1:

So I guess we all just hope that next time these two idiots go to WDW (or anywhere else for that matter), they decide who's responsible for their little girl before they enter the park? Come on, there is absolutely nothing that can justify this.
Excuse me! Please read my post again. I in no way attempted to "justify" the actions of the adults in the party. I simply attempted to explain what might have happened in this case. Of course the adults are to blame; I never said they weren't.

I think these parents are big fat liars, there's no way you can "forget" your child for that long.
Sadly, some people do. Proviso: I am NOT defending them and I truly think there is something wrong with a parent who can forget their child, but it happens (and the children should be taken away).

There have been two cases here of parents forgetting to drop their babies off at day care, parking their cars at work/home and then the child dies from heat. Both cases, the parents were educated professionals, not some lowlives.

I also know of a man (college professor) who told his wife that if she wanted a child it would be her problem, he wanted nothing to do with 'it'. Stupid woman had a child with this jerk and as will happen, there were times when he HAD to take some responsibility for his own dd. Strangely enough, he would regularly take her to Walmart, put her carrier down on the floor to peruse some merchandise, and then 'forget' her. He would leave her on the floor and walk out (never making any purchases that would require checking out. Hmmm.). Every time, a Walmart employee would see the child and catch him on his way out the door. "Oops, Forgot about her!" he would laugh. I personally think he was trying to abandon her, because NO ONE can be that stupid. And if they are, they should not have custody of a child for any length of them. Yet the even more stupid mother refuses to see the truth. She is going to be heartbroken one day because he keeps doing it and one day he's going to succeed and her daughter will be lost to her.

He would also 'forget' to feed her or change her too. The wife would come home to the baby screaming and the dh would say, "Oh, didn't notice. Forgot she was here."

We were at WDW last week and it was miserable hot during the day. The lines at POTC were quite long, easily an hour. Can't believe people would leave a small child unattended, there's not even a lot of shade outside around POTC, child was probably in the full sun.

There was a case around here a couple of years ago where an infant died when the father left it in the car. Says he forgot he had the child and left it there when he went into work.

You've got to be kidding me, I don't believe either story.

We were there from 6/8-6/16. My 6 1/2 yr old DS made sure my DH and I did not get lost. He reminds us to stay close. For all those stories of children being left behind or in hot cars. This week some days were in the 90's I made sure my dog came inside after 10-20 minutes. Also we kept thinking of our dog in the kennel while we were away at WDW, hoping he was OK and well cared for.:confused3

This makes no sense. Anyone with a 3yo knows that it's impossible for 50 minutes to go by without the child asking questions or wanting to be picked up or SOMEthing.

I think the child fell asleep in the stroller so the parents just left her there so they could go ride. They made up this whole story to try to get out of trouble but it's full of holes.

To the previous poster that spent a day in the baby care center and saw a child left for 6 hours...I'm totally shocked by this, and even more shocked that Disney doesn't contact the authorities in cases like that.
