Thursday was 1st day of cuts for MS baseball. My DS made the cut. Another boy that he has played with before did not. That father pitched such a fit about his son being cut that the coach let him stay!

The coach is under 30 and may have little experience dealing with parents. I've never heard of "uncutting" a player. I think he made a huge mistake. Monday will be interesting when the other parents find out.

The assistant coach told the remaining players not to worry that he won't be around much longer. Tuesday is the next cut.

Why would someone want to put their child through such humiliation?:confused3

Complainers learn early on in life that the squeaky wheel really does get the grease. Sad fact, but true.

Our friend coaches travel ball. My son was cut but we were fine with it as he still plays house ball. But our friend has told us that this is his last year coaching travel because the parents drive him crazy. One parent even started a "rogue" travel team for his son to play on. My DH coaches house ball and so far, so good with parents, but since DS started in 1st grade I've seen some parents who are real doozies.

this is exactly why the community theatre that i worked with had a different procedure with handleing casting for the kid's shows vs. the ones with primarily adults. with the adult shows you knew if you were coming to callbacks before the end of the nite you auditioned, and sometimes they had you come back the second nite of auditions and did the callbacks right afterwards. with the kids shows, even though the directors knew before the end of the nite who they wanted to cut/see back-they did'nt announce it and just posted callbacks on a website, and then called those folks to tell them when/where. otherwise some psycho parent went off on the director and tried to wrangle "another chance" for their little darling to "realy show their stuff":sad2:

i don't know what the shelf life of a kid's sport coach is, but with rare exceptions it only took a couple of kid's shows before a director would run away screaming "never again" (and they loved working with the kids-it was the parents who drove them off the deep end).

The coach should have not caved to the parent's demands.
My guess...he will have to toughen up or be one the the "coaches" that everybody knows you can control.

Usually, in high school things all even out...because the coach's job is on the line to produce the best team he can.

Some coaches coach in middle school to develop players and see what they can do....while other's play the best 5 or best 9 (depending on the sport) and play to win!

In HS...it is usually the best players play...the weaker players sit and sub!

Ds10 was cut this year from his travel basketball team - sure, it was hard, because his friends made it, but that's life (and the coach is a good friend of ours, the father of his best friend). There was another boy who was better - he should get the spot. He played rec basketball, and made the travel volleyball team, so he got to try something new (because soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football and swimming just aren't enough :lmao: ).

He's at baseball tryouts right now. I hope he makes it - last year, one of his best friends made little league, and his twin brother didn't, and the coach was a good friends with their father. It's nice to know that not all coaches play favorites, and not all parents are crazy!

Sweeet!! Now this poor kid gets to sit the bench instead of being cut. Way to go dad!!

I served for many years as President to a youth soccer league with about 750 children. That means I had over 1000 parents. Seriously, parents need to remember that volunteers put in tons of time to provide programs like these and its supposed to be FUN for the children. My worst situation was the parent who pulled a gun on a referee but I have tons of stories from my years.

:scared1: What a great example for kids to see!
