Hi everyone, we are set for July 18th 2004 on the Wonder, and I would like to try the parasailing on Castaway Kay. Do I hav eto book this in advanced or can I do it on the Ship? Thanks for reading my post. :)

if you are wanting to do this, i would recommend you book at the 60 day mark. Also, you would be able to get your first choice of times. Parasailing at CC is limited, so i wouldn't wait until you get on the ship to reserve this. Enjoy! Only bad thing about it is that the ride is over before you know it!

Yes, you will need to book it right away at the 60 day mark if you want to be assured of ressies.

I tried to book at about the 56 or 57 day mark prior to cruise, and I could almost hear the people in the background laughing! :p Needless to say, I did not get to parasail.

Who do I get in touch with to book the parasiling? By the way thanks for answering my post.

wish I could remember the details better and I hope someone else sees this and chimes in but...

you will get info from DCL in the mail (can't remember exactly when but it was in time to book excursions) which will include pamphlets about all the excursions they offer. Then, at the 60 day mark, you can call DCL and book these. HTH :D

We got our booklet explaining about the excursions a few days before the 60 day mark. I called "on" the 60 day mark to request the parasailing excursion, a fellow DIS'er on our cruise waited until the following week, and all the times were filled up. I would also suggest that you make a ressie for the parasailing excursion "on" the 60 day mark.

on our first DCL cruise our TA never got us the info. I am not sure but if you check the DCL site, it might give you info on where to call to reserve excursions.

The number to call is 1-877-566-0968. That is from the Excursion booklet that will be sent to you right before the 60 day mark.
Make sure you call right on that 60 day mark, they do fill up very quickly like other posters have said.
You will get a confirmation in the mail directly from Disney a few days later. There is no payment due at the time of the booking, it will be charged to your stateroom while onboard.

This might be helpful to someone who "missed out" on parasailing ressies for CC:

I've heard that private companies handle parasailing in Key West. Perhaps you could make your own arrangements and take part in this activity there. I think I remember that it was less expensive than Disney's parasailing.

If you do an internet search there are several reputable companies. On the 7 day eastern cruise, our guys decided to book privately with 'Caribbean Watersports'. This company is adjacent to Coki Bch and Coral World. They had a blast and it was more reasonable than going thru Dis.

Thanks so much for the information as well as the phone #, So your saying I have to wait for my itinerary so this way I know when I will be on Castaway Kay and the book it. Can it be before the 60 day mark or does it have to be on the 60 day mark? Thanks again

You have to wait until the 60 day out mark before you can make your excursion ressie with DCL.

Thanks Verandah Man, didn't know that. I only went on the Cruise once before ( July 2002) but didn't know anything about a 60 day mark. I booked a Dolphin Encounter back then which was pretty cool. Ask me how I did book I couldn't tell ya :D but I did

By the way, how did you get the cruise counter, you know the counter that tells you how many days till your cruise?

I was going to say the same thing..if you are going to be in Key West....i did parasailing there and it was amazing..it was also a great deal less expensive than the one that was reserved on the ship..i believe half off (i didnt go on disney cruise by the way) I was up in the air for about ..20 minutes i think.....40 dollars a person..was amazing!

You should know when you'll be on CC just by looking at either your original confirmation (when you paid the deposit) or even by looking in one of their cruise booklets. It gives the itinerary for each cruise. Just look for the one you're on (i.e. - Magic or Wonder - 3 nt or 4 nt).

Definitely call ON the 60-days before your sail date to make your reservations. Not only should you be assured of getting a reservation, but also hopefully getting the time slot you want. We took first flights because that way it freed up our day to do everything else & not have to head back to the parasailing area. Late day is probably also good since you are almost all of the way back to the ship where they launch out of.

Yea if I do it (cause wifey is chicken) I want to do it early. I hate doing things late like booking a late take off (parasailing), my luck the ship will leave without me :wave2: Funny story....whenwe went in july 2002 my wife and my daughter (I don't know the short terms for wife and daughter) were getting there hair braided on CC and beleive or not we were the last ones back on the ship, scouts honor....the very last ones. All because they went to get there hair done so late...women...go figure ;)

You're funny.
I liked going early because I knew they'd be running on time. I didn't want to waste any of my CC time just in case they started running a bit behind.

My husband (I know the 'short term' but don't use it:teeth: ) & I took the first flights & my two sons went at the end of the day. It was cool because we went back onto the ship & got pictures of them from out into the ocean more. It's too far away from the beaches. We got pictures of them in the boats coming back in, too.

Thanks dclwdwlover funny is good....I think. Anyway that is going to be my intention...to go early, and enjoy the rest of the day on CC
