Let me first say that the story I am about to tell you is true...and definately ranks up there as a "freak accident"
Eight years ago I was hit by a golf ball, 15 yards away, off the tee. It was totally my own fault. I was golfing in a tournament and was the only one using the ladies' tees in our foursome. I thought all three men had teed off, and when the third guy (a 6'5 250lb. former marine) yelled down to me to get out of the way, he hadn't teed off yet, my response was "You couldn't hit me if you tried...." guess what? He did, (NO he didn't try to...he was just a ****ty golfer
)
Knocked me off my feet, hit me square in the face, tore my nose practically off my face. Eight years and 2 plastic surgeries later, I still have no feeling in part of my face. But I could have been more seriously hurt than I was. I was very lucky! Though golf accidents are rare, they do occur~most commonly by careless mistakes and horsing around.
Am I trying to scare you? NO, not at all. I just wanted to share a story of what could happen. But hey, life is a contact sport, and all activities have some sort of risk.
Will I ever golf again? Nope...but my kids golf, my husband golfs, and the bike helmets stay at home.
Good luck to your DS~
