paramount parks sold

I am so thankful of this. I live minutes from Kings Island and grew up there. It has goen downhill since Paramount purchased it. It is to the point that I hate to go but DD likes it. It is dirty, run down and poorly managed. The food is DISGUSTING. I am hoping that the new ownership will perk it up. I love Cedar Point so I am kepping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully it is not a Geuga Lake ordeal where they charge you an extra fee to your AP to gain access to it...

Being a AP holder of Cedar Point for the past 4 years this excites me if we can gain access to all these parks with our CP AP

my first reaction was 'ugh'. i love how canada's wonderland is now, they have added great new attractions, a larger improved (greatly) kids area.... with Dora and other Nickelodeon crew. :O( I hope this part of the park won't change with the new purchase. :O(

How is the Italian Job stunt coaster? That seems like a lot of fun.

At Carowinds we have the Borg coaster. It is star trek themed and you lay down and fly like super man.

I am so glad , i hope they get some new rides and clean up the place,
Kim

I saw something about Carowinds in the paper today but didn't have time to read the article. We live about 2 mi from this park. I was hoping it would be bought by a company that would keep it open and maybe upgrade it a bit.

Totally agree!! :sunny:

One of the best themed attractions outside of a Disney park is the "Outer Limits" coaster at Kings Dominion (it might be at some of their other parks as well). Very well themed queue plus its a great ride.

Yeah, but it was better before they slowed it down after about the first year in operation (and yes, they have the same coaster at King's Island). We rode it about a month after it opened, and it was just completely mindblowing back then. Then, about the middle of the next summer, it suddenly got slower, and it hasn't been quite the same since.

Not sure how to take this news about the parks being bought out. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Cedar Point. But I've always liked Kings Island, too, and the competition between those two has been to the benefit of every coaster lover in this part of the world :teeth:

It is meh. Theming is good. Ride is okay. There is supposed to be a launch but it is really just a nudge.

I am very excited about the news. If nothing else, we'll get lots of new garbage cans!!!

It never occured to me that Cedar Point might be competing with Kings Island. The two are light years apart -- coaster-wise.

Cedar Point always seems to be pushing the envelope to stay on top of the records. I have always seen them more in competition with Magic Mountain, even though they are geographically very far apart. Cedar Point is already constructing their new coaster for 2007. I sure hope a little bit of that competitive edge travels up here to Wonderland.

I've been to all the Paramount Parks except Carowinds. They can all do with a step in the direction of new technology.

I wish that they'd move down into our area. We really liked Knotts Berry Farm and we could use a family friendly place in our area.

Oh well, maybe the new managers of Six Flags will get somewhere. They're done pretty well so far!

We were there this past weekend. The area for the new coaster is huge; you can see where the supports are already poured. We were told that CP already had clearance for a structure that is 525 feet high. Top Thrill Dragster is the tallest thing in the park right now at 420. We are AP holders as well and look forward to CedarFair cleaning up King's Island as well. Cedar Point is one of the cleanest parks you'll ever see. Amy

I think it's in Cedar Fair's best interest to make all their parks the best they can be, not necessarily to compete with each other, but to generate the most revenue.

I agree with the others that have said that this should be a good thing for the Paramount parks. Cedar Fair does a great job of maintaining parks -- they took a craphole like Geauga Lake which was run into the ground by Six Flags in a matter of only a couple years and made it a decent little park. :)
