I am trying to plan a short trip to DL for me and a girlfriend (DH has no desire to go:confused: ). Although I have been there in quite a few times in the past, the last trip was in 96. So needless to say, I am pretty clueless to what the new resorts are all about. I just checked some rates and it seems that Paradise Pier is the least expensive of the 3 on site. (Which I was surprised about....) Anyone have any tips on this one? I really would like to stay in a Disney resort, but also I want to keep this trip as thrifty as possible. Is Paradise Pier comparable to a moderate or value at WDW?

I can't speak from experience as I have never stayed on-site at WDW but I have stayed at PPH and it is very nice. I have seen it compared on various message boards to the Swan and the Contemporary. All three hotels at DLR are considered deluxe (DLH and PPH= 4 stars, GC= 5 stars in most hotel guides).

I think that if you are interested in staying at DL and want the least expensive room the PP is the way to go. I would recommend it. We stayed there a few weeks ago and really had a great time. The best tip I can give you is to try to request a room that is on the upper floors. The only negative thing Ihave heard about the resort has to do with their elevators - which are very small so if you are on one of the lower floors you could get frustrated if you are waiting. This does not seem to be an issue with the upper floors.
As far as comparing it to WDW - that's klnda hard to do. I dont think that any of DL's resorts compare to WDW very well. WDW has so much theming and all - but they are still very fun and one thing that I like better is that they are all so close to the parks that you feel very much a part of the action. The Grand CA is really the only one that does really compare as far as being an elaborate resort. But for the money the PP is great!
Have fun!

I have stayed at all 3 Disneyland resort hotels. The Paradise Pier will fit the bill for your parameters. It is a little bland but the room decore is still Disney and nice but not cutesy and it was comfortable. It is more modern. The public areas are just okay and there aren't much grounds but if you get a higher floor the views are nice on the citi side and awesome on the themepark side. The best part would be the price. If you get a good price it is the best way to do a Disneyland resort hotel on a tight budget.

hi, we stayed at the PP last summer, it was our first time staying on site and first time to disneyland, we had an awesome time!!!! the hotel was great, the staff super and friendly, our room was great, with mickey bedspreads, pictures, soaps ect, it is very close to the Disneyland hotel and right across the street from the grand Californian, we had fun exploring these hotels! One not to be missed thing, is the fantasy water show at the disneyland hotel, i think it started around 9:30. The hotel has a 2 gift shops, a restaurant with character meals, and the worlds only Mickey Mouse coffe machine in the lobby where they have some pastries, coffe ect., We did not use the pool, it lookes ok, but we had an awesome time!!!!!! Hope you have fun!!!!!!!

I have stayed at PP twice and enjoyed it very much--it has a private entrace to DCA which is very cool and you also get to use the Neverland Pool at DLH--it is a little bit of a walk, but worth it. also, you get a free fridge in every room! go for it--you will be glad you did!

just got back from wdw and stayed at a mod (coronado springs) and i think the paradise pier is much fancier for lack of a better word than a mod at wdw -

My friend and I took a girls only trip several weeks ago. We stayed at PP and LOVED it!!!! The private entrance to DCA is WONDERFUL and its a short walk to DL throught the GCH. Parking was very convenient (more so than GCH would be) and the CMs at PP were great!!!

Elevators were a pain, but we learned to walk stairs or ride the elevator up and then down in the mornings. We were on 5th floor.

Rooms are nice, comfortable beds, free fridge!

I would compare the resort very favorably to WDW moderates. Thought it was nicer than Coronado Springs, not quite as nice as Wilderness, or AKL. Mostly just because of theming and WL and AKL are newer.

Personally, I think they could make this hotel compare better with WDW deluxes by just updating the bedspreads, etc. Their stationery is SO cute with the PP graphics and cute lime, turq, yellow, and citrus orange colors. It would be SO easy to make the hotel match and would look GREAT and add alot to the atmosphere.

I highly recommend it!
