Paradise Pier using DVC points. Are upgrades possible?

Our waitlist for Grand Californian didn't come through for next week, so I used points to stay 2 nights at Paradise Pier in standard room (short on points). Can someone confirm that it is acceptable and possible to inquire at checkin whether an upgrade to either a concierge room to a room facing the pool is available?

If yes, about how much more would the upgrade cost? We will be staying there over my MOm's birthday so it would be nice to have something a little special.

They can't upgrade a points reservation. Cannot mix points + cash.
