Paradise Pier Superthread

What are the current in room coffee makers at PPH? Are they single cup? Do they have disposable cups with lids in the room? Is there a place to get coffee in the hotel before leaving for the parks? I'd prefer to have my coffee in the room and avoid long lines :)

Yes...to all your questions, lol. But I can't remember about the lids.

Sorry for the double posts, accidentally posted this in the pics thread and couldn't delete....

Hi all....will be traveling to Disneyland Mother's Day weekend 2014 to take my son on his first trip and we will be staying at Paradise Pier. I was wondering how often upgrades are given? I going to book the concierge level rooms because I think we could eat our weight in the snacks they offer, but will have my dad along for the trip so it would be nice to have a suite, although it's not necessary in my book.

Is it worth watching the DL fireworks from the roof? I'm looking for an interesting place to watch on a non-park day.

For our first visit last October i booked a theme park view with concierge and got upgraded to a one bedroom suite upon check in. Not sure why maybe because it was our first visit? I talk about it in my trip report in my signature. Have fun!!

Oh wonderful! Perhaps mentioning it's my sons first visit would encourage an upgrade lol I've been a handful of times since I grew up in SoCal but moved to Texas when I was 18 and have never stayed on property. My son will only be 2 1/2 at the time so I don't think it will make a world of difference to him either way.

We just returned from our trip and the hotel was wonderful! No lids for the coffee cups, though. It wads my daughters 16th bday trip and we booked a standard room and we're upgraded to a theme park view upon check in. We watched the fireworks from our room but had to crane our necks to the left to really see them. We also tried to watch WOC from the room and could see the colors and water but not the projections. Music for the show was piped in on channel 46.

We had 5 in our room at one point and it was still comfortable. My only complaints were 1. that the water temperature in the shower was wildly inconsistent. Scalding to cool without moving the lever at all. Also, shower heads are very low flow which can be a challenge for some. 2. PCH grill service and food was sub par in our opinion. 3. And this is a very small thing, but we would really have loved to have coffee cup lids in our rooms :).

The staff was amazingly helpful and gracious! We enjoyed our stay there very much!

We watched them for the first time on the roof over the summer. It was a different perspective, but would I do it again, probably not. It was nice to have to music through the speakers, but the fireworks were really far away.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm going for race weekend and love fireworks ( my favorite part of DL)...but need to go to bed early for the next days race.
So it will not be awesome, but doable?

Woo hoo! My best friend and I are officially booked in a Theme Park View Concierge Room from May 18-23, 2014! And at 50% off with his CM discount, it was pretty reasonable pricewise. I'm excited for the view and the concierge experience, he's excited for the wine & cheese reception each night. :rotfl:

Hi! Booked a stay here for Dec! Yay! Have stayed here in the past, but it's been a couple of years. I know they replaced all the refrigerators in the rooms. Can anyone tell me if the new fridges still fit a half gallon of milk like before? Anything else that has changed in the past two years that I should be aware of? TIA!

We just stayed at the PPH again last month, and "Yes", you can still fit a half gallon in the door--at least in our fridge you could.

We've noticed that the fridges are not exactly the same in all of the rooms we've stayed in over the last year(in one fridge, the half gallon had to be laid on its side;)), so if you are really concerned about this, I'd call and ask, and have them note it in your reservation--it couldn't hurt!:thumbsup2

As far as differences in the last couple of years, I can't think of any. Make sure to tell them if you are celebrating anything special--this might get you a room upgrade, balloons, picture, etc. Don't expect it, but this has happened numerous times, when we've been there purposely to celebrate an occasion.

Thanks Cheshirecatty! I don't mind if the milk needs to be laid on it's side, just as long as it fits! I'm thinking of bringing cereal to eat in the room since we will be attempting to take advantage of early entry, and my boys drink a lot of milk too.

An upgrade would be AMAZING! But, I'm not holding my breath though, don't want to get my hopes up! Last time we were there they put us in an accessible room by mistake. My mom was also with us, so we really needed the fold out couch and my kids refuse to take showers. I called and kindly asked to be moved, at first they offered a king room, which I would have totally taken if my mom wasn't with us, but I explained the 3 adults, so they moved us to a view room! And it was a corner room to boot, so the extra space was so nice! It was awesome =)

You are very welcome!

That's great that they accommodated you---they did that as well for us once, when we were also placed in an accessible room!

Didn't you love the corner room--so.much.space!

We cross our fingers every time, that we'll get one again;)!

Hi

does anyone know if they have a kettle in the room as well as the coffe maker? We drink tea and would like to make our own in the evening. (Aussies!)

Thanks

"Hi" back:)!

Unfortunately, PPH does not provide kettles in addition to the coffee maker.

Hopefully, you can still get your tea fix another way:thumbsup2!

Just got back from stay here Sun-Wed. A very good time. Am warming to this hotel.

Problems: shower went from hot to cold to medium to hot, and the shower head isn't very powerful.

Good things: we didn't have many issues with the elevators this time. Lines to get coffee in the morning in the lounge were light and the kids enjoyed their time in the pool. We did dinner at the restaurant and it was pretty good (not cheap, but the quality was good). WiFi seemed fast and reliable (and free).

Beds were comfortable and our two boys (11, 15) enjoyed having their own beds since the younger one used the couch bed.

Seems like the elevator is a concern. I am going on a sold out weekend. I also did concierge & view room.
Please explain how I get to the concierge lounge?
How to I use the secret elevator (it to do down only?)
How about going up?
Any secrets would be great!
Thanks!
First stay here!
