Paradise Pier or Howard Johnson

I'm very confused on where I should stay. I have never been to Disneyland before and have the opportunity to go for one day only. I thought I was going to have to leave Palm Springs at 4am to do so but now it looks like I can leave the night before and spend the night around the area so there won't be any driving in the am.
I have a room at the howard Johnson through Mousesavers for 67.10 per night but I'm wondering whether I should go ahead and spend the extra $55 and stay at Paradise Pier for the extra magic.
What do you think? Is it worth it when I won't be spending much more than sleeping time at the hotel and checking out in the am before heading over to Disneyland (I won't be able to make to to CA)?
Thanks for the input.

You won't be there long, so I'd stay at the Howard Johnson. Really, my family is likely to stay at the Howard Johnson anyway--each room has free high-speed Internet access.

Really, for one night I'd rather just stay at the HoJo. You're not going to be there for long enough, unless you're a die-hard fan. This is from someone who always stays at PPH, for what it's worth.

Another vote for HoJo's. But only because it is only for one night. If you were asking about a 3-4 night stay, I would say PP for sure cause being onsite is very special when you are there for multi-day stays. One night is like only sleeping, showering and then off to the parks!

Have fun whatever you decide:)
