We will be going in two weeks and I am wondering where are your favorite places to watch the current parades in both Disneyland and California Adventure. I read on some website that the only place they allow you to sit on the ground to watch the parade in DL is the hub. Is this true? Any insight would be appreciated...this is my first visit to Disney as a parent. Thanks!

In the walkway between Matterhorn and the Castle there is a ledge that we have sat on before. I've seen people sitting to wait for the parade up and down Main Street, but I don't know about actually watching the parade.

We found a good spot to watch Mickeys Soundsational Parade near IaSW towards the beginning of the parade route. We were fine to sit and even spread out some small blankets to reserve some space for the rest of our group that were meeting us. We were next to a couple other families doing the same thing. We were able to sit and ate some snacks while we waited.

In DL we have always sat on Main street (easy access to Starbucks and the candy store!)
In DCA there are a lot of spots as the parade route is long, but we like outside of Disney Junior.
We go early, put down our blanket and have a snack and a drink...or sometimes supper!) If you have kids I highly recommend finding a spot early so your kids will have an unobstructed view (don't forget to wave at the characters!)

Have a magical time!

From my experience, basically wherever there is a curb they make the front row of people sit, and all the people behind them have to stand up for the parade. This was the case on Main Street, in the Town Square area, around the back of the Matterhorn (between IASW and the castle), and in DCA between Buena Vista Street and Carsland.

My favourite place to watch is Main Street. You just can't beat the atmosphere, and having the castle in the background. I've sometimes found some great spots in the Town Square area without having to wait too long.

I've also not really heard of them making everyone stand to watch the parades in either park. It's seems more like it's pretty much assumed that if you're in the front row (curb or ground), you're expected to be seated to watch the parade. I've watched (while sitting down) on Main Street and Small World Mall in DL and nears Carsland in DCA.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll be trying Main Street. It also seemed weird to me that they would say everyone has to stand so I was glad to hear of your experiences. Thanks!

We have definitely been specifically told to stand when we haven't been in the front row. You'd want to anyway as you wouldn't be able to see. I usually try to get in the 2nd row, so that I've got a clear view over the people sitting in front of me, but you won't have to get there quite as early. You can sit right up until the parade begins.
