Parades... or lack there of... questions

I was looking at the entertainment schedule for a couple days late next month that we are tentatively going to Disneyland. I noticed no parades. I read in another thread that it is because of paving. I am bummed but..no biggie... it happens.

My questions are...

What can one expect of the parade path being paved? Small areas blocked at a time? Large areas?

Also... I feel like I read somewhere that they would be Mini shows (possibly in DCA.. I cant remember where I read it.. maybe I dreamt it?)... like a Toy Story show... an Incredibles show... etc. Are these already going on? Or was it something they were talking about doing in the future? If they are taking place now... will they show up on the Entertainment schedule? Or is it one of those "right place at the right time" things?

Any info would be appreciated. My kids really enjoyed watching the Christmas parade on TV and I was looking forward to seeing one this time. Somehow in all our past trips we missed seeing the parades.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm not sure about the DCA mini-shows. DL is premiering a new parade this year and I guess it's been pushed back to Spring. Sorry you are missing the parades, we love Disney parades.

In DL the paving is one half of Main Street at a time. It's a bummer to see because it changes that classic view when you walk into the park. They do the hub and town square in smaller sections but main street I think in quarters. They redo it evey couple years during the long winter offseason.

In DCA the parades are going to be down because of construction walls along the parade route. This has been reported as the reason many times but isn't technically correct. Either way the DCA parade will be down also.

As far as little shows. Disney Channel Rocks and the Disney Dance crew have multiple daily preformances. I'm not sure if those are the mini shows you mean. The Green Army Men from Toy Story do cadet training too. Not sure of an Incredibles show.

Thanks guys!

Does anyone know what the estimated completion date is for the paving?

With out looking I remember two years ago it finished around mid or early March. This of course is when spring break starts. Everyone is now reporting the DL Parade will start in Spring which is pretty generic as Spring is 3 months long, and spring break is almost 2 months long.

To tell if the DL parade can start there is a way to indirectly check. While repaving the DL daily calendars will show the main street vehicles down. This isn't because they are in rehab. It's because the town up street doesn't allow the Trolley down it.

Here's a link to an article about the Pixar parade and the "mini shows":

Looks like these haven't started yet but will start soon.

Thank you!!! This is the exact article I was talking about.

I wonder if these will show up on the entertainment schedule. It doesn't look like it since the dates for all of these start dates are already up. These look like fun. My son loves Incredibles and there really isn't much Incredible stuff out there.

We are soooooo bummed that the toy story and monsters inc mini shows won't start until after we leave. It seems they should have had these ready to go when the parade went down. Those are two of my boys favorites!

The OC Register released another article last week that updated the start date for the mini Pixar Pop-Ups. According to the article, the first mini-show is now slated to debut on Jan. 14.

According to yet a different article in the OC Register, the Main Street re-paving is scheduled for Jan. 18 - Feb. 16. The Register does put up a disclaimer that the schedule is "subject to change", but this at least gives the public an estimate. From the article page, you have to click the photo slide show and find the slide about Main Street re-paving for these dates. This article is also useful as it summarizes the various attractions that are going down for refurbishment beginning in January.
