I noticed, that in DLP, they allow people much more flexibility in finding parade viewing locations, than they allow in either California DL or WDW.
At first, I hesitated to climb over the ropes to settle down on the lawn, fully expecting a CM to come by and tell the people to move. However, eventually I climbed over a barrier, and joined other people in the shade, on a hill, in the bushes. It was in the shade, and had a good view.
There were sticker bushes, which someone who spoke no English was kind enough to point out to me.
Otherwise, it was an ideal viewing location.
