Hello,

I officially got the go ahead to take my niece to Disney World in March. :woohoo: Now I need to figure out what paperwork I require to take her across the border.

I believe that all I need is a signed letter from my sister and brother-in-law giving me permission to take my niece out of the country.

Does anyone know if my assumption is correct? Is a regular letter fine, or does anything special need to be done to it? Or do I need some other sort of paperwork.

TIA for your help!

They should photocopy their drivers license or passports on the permission letter. Having it notarized would even be better.

What a nice aunt you are!!

You could gamble that a regular letter that is not notarized will be fine and then not be allowed into the U.S. You could have a notarized consent form and never have to produce it. Which scenario works for you?

I would get it notorized. Why take the chance?
Friends of ours went down to a Karate Tourney in Oct with us and were thankful they had a letter.(and this was with one parent and daughter) They not only asked for ithe note but grilled the daughter...........

I am definitely going to go with the notarized route.

Thanks for all the responses!

We took our grandson last May. We were prepared for anything and had a notarized permission letter, his passport, all documentation that we could think of, insurance, etc.

At customs all they did was ask our seven-year-old grandson "who are these folks to you?" He said "they are my grandma and grandpa". They didn't ask to see anything and told us to have a great time at DisneyWorld.

However, I would be prepared for anything. Wouldn't want to have a glitch. I think it only cost about $25 to have a letter notarized.

Have a great time with your niece.

Nora
