Paperstock Annual Passes?!

So this year we decided to get annual passes. We bought the passes at a local Disney Store and redeemed them at Magic Kingdom. I was shocked that they were on cheap cardstock paper, and not the plastic like the KTTWC and other tickets... It would seem to me that Annual Passes that will get several days of use would be so cheap. Does anyone know if you can switch them over to plastic cards? Thanks!

not that I am aware of, i think we are stuck with paper. Which I agree, doesn't make much sense. Does anyone know the theory behind this?

I just became a passholder for the first time last night (got in right before the price increase!) and can't wait to get my vouchers!

so when/how do i order the TIW card? do i have to wait for my voucher to arrive? can i order it before activating my pass or should i just buy it at guest services when i activate?

Nope...the AP looks just like a regular ticket.

I don't think they can be switched to plastic cards, but someone may correct me. The annual passes are made out of a special kind of paper that is more durable than regular paper. However, if something happens to your pass, you can take it to guest relations and get a new one printed.

and if we lose it, they have our info on file to replace it? or do i need to make a 'copy' of it or anything to be safe?

I would wait until you have the AP in hand, then buy your TIW card at Guest Services at any theme park.

They have your info on file.

That's disappointing... I see us replacing these in the future... They are looking pretty worn after just a couple trips!

Wow, this same topic was on the boards a few days ago. I also have the paper APs. After 1 week of use, I found them to be pretty durable. They even got wet and now show no signs of any damage. Turns out, according to another poster, they're made of Tyvek. And, a CM he talked to, in Guest Services, told him they have many more problems with the plastic KTTW cards breaking, being demagnatized, etc. It was an interesting thread.

I used my tyvek Annual Pass almost 100 times last year with no problems. Never had to replace it.

I wanted to post something extremely important about Tables in Wonderland.

The Tables in Wonderland card is also Tyvek card stock. But, unlike the annual passes, you cannot replace it free of charge. If you lose the Tables in Wonderland card, they charge $50 for replacement.

So don't lose it!

Yikes! Thanks for the warning. We are planning on purchasing one on our Nov. trip. I'll keep it in a special place.

Do you put them through the ticket taker just like you KTTW card? What about for fastpasses. I've never had one but I"m getting one next month. So ridiculously excited!

The first time I got wdw APs I was kinda shocked at how cheap they felt because we had Disneyland APs which are plastic cards. We replaced our WDW APs once last year because they wouldn't scan in some of the turnstiles.

However, the new Premier Passes are plastic cards. They are even better than the Disneyland Plastic APs because they have some raised lettering and stuff on it.

yes works just like KTTW card for entrance and FPs.

YOu'll be even more excited when you see the characters on them. I hope you get one you like! We got Mickey, Goofy and Pluto. I can't wait to see what DH gets when we buy his AP in Nov.

I wish the AP's were plastic cards. I've never had to get mine replaced, but for the money why not give us something with some meat. ..... Oh thats right, Disney does not want to make thier passholders feel special.

If you purchase your TIW in person, they are on Tyvek stock.

If you order your TIW card via the phone or email and have the card mailed to you...you get a plastic card (like a credit card).

The part about losing it is true.

They could put them on plastic cards, but they refuse to do it. A CM told me it was because the paper ones were cheaper to replace if the thing was lost. I don't know if that is true or just one of the dumb things they make up instead of telling the truth or saying, "I don't know," but that's what he said.

I'd like a plastic one, too.

Who do I call to order a TIW card? I'd like to get that in plastic.

Thank you.

I didn't know they had characters. My luck I'll get the Evil Queen or Maleficent.;)
