PaperbackSwap.com.... anybody here use it?

Just curious if you like it. I joined last night. I'm not even sure how it works yet, or even if I'll use it. I buy most of my paperbacks from the local library for 50 cents to $1.

Yes, there are a whole bunch of us here that use it.

Make sure you read the Book Condition Guidelines so you can send out the right quality books, and also make sure you receive the right quality back. It can get bummy when you have either received a book that is barely sticking together, or get a PM stating your book didn't meet the conditions and you have to return the credit.

However, if you are able to get great books at from your library that are on people's Wish Lists, you can always get a credit for another book.

I use the site mostly for old or rare books that I would never be able to find at used bookstores or garage sales or at old library sales.

I have had people send me these rare books in like new, to brand new - maybe flipped through once, hard covers. I've gotten many Keeper quality books, and I didn't even request them in that condition.

The site has been invaluable to me.

I don't just use it, I'm addicted to it! I also transfer credits back and forth between the CD site. That one is a little slower-moving, but I got some good music from there anyway (and CDs are cheaper to mail).

I unloaded my (quite old) college textbooks and a whole shelf of kid encylopedia-type books super fast. Things have slowed down quite a bit, though, recently. Most of my remaining bookshelf books are kids books or really popular books that have hundreds of copies in the system.

This is great for me because I don't do well with library books. I like making myself a big old stack of books to read when I'm good and ready. This practice can translate into some real library fines.
