Paper question...

OK, I am NOT a scrapbooker. I admit it. I'd love to be one, but...well I'm not. However, I do need your expertise because...

I want to make a "scrapbook-like" framed picture for my parents for Christmas of all their grandchildren. Think of it as a big scrapbook page that will be framed to hang on the wall.

My problem is that I need (well want) background paper with a design that is larger than 12 X 12 and can't seem to find it anywhere. Is there a place that sells cardstock larger than 12 X 12? If not, any ideas how to do this? I thought about putting 2 - 12 X 12 sheets together, but then you've got that seam, and it appears that the designs (patterns) on everything I looked at doesn't match up.

What size are you looking for?

Cricut has pads of cardstock that are 12x24 but you'd have to buy the whole pad, not a single sheet.

You could buy mat board from the framing dept and cut that down to the size you need but it only comes in solid colors.

Martha Stewart used to sell big sheets of paper at Michael's Arts and Crafts but I haven't looked lately to see if they still carry it.

What about fabric? That might be a better way to go.

the matboard is a GREAT idea! I checked out one website and it appears, while limited, I might be able to find something patterned. If not, I'll use a solid. Not the end of the world.

I've never seen it in the patterns but I usually buy mine at Michael's and they only carry solid.

How about using matboard and stamping a design or pattern on it?

If you're buying a ready-made frame, you could stretch a thinnish Christmas fabric over the back and adhere it (you won't see it once its hung anyway ) and scrap onto that.

You could also use a canvas and cover it with fabric before framing. What about wrapping paper? I mean the larger sheets that you can buy at specialty shops or places like Paper Source?
