Paper products in studio??

I see in my Member Guidebook that paper plates are supplied in the studios. Can someone help me with some very picky details?

Are the paper plates the thin, flimsy kind or are they sturdy? Trying to decide whether to bring any along.

By any chance do they supply any paper bowls or paper cups?

We'll be eating all breakfasts in the room, plus some lunches and suppers. I'm not sure how many of my own paper goods I should plan to bring.

Like I said, very picky questions, but any answers would really help me start planning. Thanks!

They are the same plates used by the fast food restaurants all over WDW. I would say they are a midweight quality. Not super durable but they don't fall apart instantly. They also give you some of the little paper bowls like they use for cereal/fruit in the food courts, etc. Same with the plastic utensils -- just like you get in the food courts. You only get about 4 of the plates/bowls so, if you are planning to do some meals in the studio it's worthwhile either bringing paper plates or picking them up when you do your food shopping. They do provide real glasses and coffee mugs instead of paper. There are paper towels but no napkins.

Consider buying the new ziploc(?) plastic wear plates and cups. They are pretty good and for the price they are very expendable. We plan on bringing tumblers and the covered plates with us. It is a little nicer than paper products, but not very expensive. Saved even more with a coupon!

We were at the BCV last week in a studio. We only had 4 paper bowls, so I called to see if they would give us a few more. (I offered to pick them up - but they told me that housekeeping would bring them.) When we came back to the room later in the day, we saw that housekeeping brought us ---- paper plates ---- no bowls! I called again, asking if we could get the bowls, and again they said that housekeeping would bring them - but we never did receive them. I would have expected that they would give you at least one bowl/plate per person per day, but they gave us a total of 4 each. We only had 2 people in the room and we were there for 4 days. Is there a specific number of each of these items that are suppose to be in the studios? (We are new at this DVC thing - it was our first visit!) Next time I'll be more prepared and informed - thanks to you guys!

The member book doesn't list a particular number. I recall that there are usually 4. It only mentions paper plates but I've had the bowls as well in the past. Many times there are only 2 coffee mugs, I just call and ask for another one or two as needed. The paper goods are only a start-up amount that is replenished on T&T and full cleaning days. They don't continue to replenish daily unless you are staying as a resort guest paying cash through Disney.

I hope that 1- or 2-bedrooms get paper plates too, by asking if not by default. We don't want to wash dishes any more than necessary!

The 1 & 2 BR do not give you paper products but you have a very nice dishwasher to use, so you will not have to wash dishes just load them up add the dish washer detergent that is supplied and turn it on!

Cool! I guess I didn't notice the dishwasher in the photos, silly me.
Even still, some paper plates would be nice. We're just used to them for some things. Our boys wouldn't know how to eat their Eggos off of a real plate!

They don't provide any paper plates/plastic utensils in the one-bedroom and larger. They do provide the real stuff, the dishwasher and the dishwashing powder for the machine and dishwashing liquid for the sink.

When we stayed in studio at VWL last year, there was a good supply of paper products, looks like others had not used their's or had brought some from food courts. I had brought some bowls along, as I had also brought frozen food to eat and most of it was "liquid-y" like chili. I also brought paper napkins and such. It never hurts to have extras of you have the space to bring them. If you don't want to bring them home, leave them for the next family.

We stayed in a studio at VWL last week and there was a very good supply of paper plates and bowls. Also had a hand full of plastic spoons, forks and knives.

Thanks again, everyone, for all your help. Sounds like I'll plan to bring along extra paper products of my own, which is fine since we're driving this next time. Now I'll have plenty of time to watch for sales/coupons on paper goods and set them aside. Can't stand paying full price for anything if I can help it!
