paper piecing ?

For those who do paper piecing, do you cover the entire back of the piece with a solid color? I thought at first it might add too much weight, but then thought it was be a cleaner item with a backing.

A couple of years ago when I took my first class that is how we were taught. But just a couple of weeks ago my BF wanted me to take a PP class with her and they taught us without the solid back.

so i guess as always it boils down to doing what you prefer.....

there are no scrapbook police!!!

I use it for the foundation - and I cut it in the color that will be the furthest 'back' if it were a 3D object - for example, if minnie or mickey, it's black because their arms legs etc are black. When I did a Stitch, it was blue and then his clothes were applied on top. Hope that helps.

I was so happy to see this subject on the boards. Would someone share with me a source for ideas for Disney paper piecing. I am on the 2Peas board alot and I love to add the ideas to my book of scraps. But, I don't know the where the patterns for the characters come from--are they pre-made? Any help would be appreciated. Deb

I am using black and white colouring pages, just look for subjects that are less busy. I found a wonderul image to use. Do a search for Disney colouring pages and go from there.

I like the idea of the backing being one of the colours, I think that should work best for this piece. Thanks.
