I am in need of some paper piecing ideas and/or patterns for each park. I have a great idea for the EPCOT globe (aka: golf ball), but I need some ideas/patterns for the castle, the sorcerer's hat (MGM), and the Tree of Life. I have the Big Idea Book of Disney Memories, and it has some ok ideas. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of patterns they could share. I have just gotten into paper piecing, and even though it is hard work, I love the effect! I did some great pages with huge paper piecings of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. They look so awesome! I want my Disney pages to look that awesome, too. If anyone has anything for the main park icons, please, let me know!!!

Thanks, and Happy Disney Scrapbooking

Kristin:

When we were at WDW in May, I bought a coloring book at World of Disney (tho' it was sold pretty much everywhere) called the "Walt Disney World Coloring Book". It has sketches of each of the park icons inside it that could be used for paper piecings (that's why I bought it). Since I see you're going to WDW soon ;) you might want to check it out while you're there. It was $3.99.

Hi Kristin

I dont know if this is what you're looking for - but on our trip in May I bought some bits and bobs back and amongst them was a Postcard shaped like the Sorcerers Hat from MGM - I have scanned it here for you to see - in real life it measures

Top to bottom = 7 1/2 inches
Ear to Ear = 6 1/4 inches

If you print it out from the scan - you could perhaps enlarge it to the correct size.

Anyway - hope this helps

Great topic!!

I am also looking for paper peicing patterns as I need to do some for another swap I am in.

I was thinking a larger mickey head to use as a journal box.

A mickey hand-but I suppose that would just be one large peice.

Epcot ball-hmmm two large circle with legs??

Tree of life would be awesome for AK.

What about the water tower for MGM?

Or one of those mickey ear hats-that would be a pretty simple one.

I would also like a paper peicing for the castle, or the lights on main street.

Thank you for posting the mickey hat-that would be perfect on a page!

I did a "pop up" page for Disney MGM and had the watertower, a tower of terror postcard (cut out) and a paper piecing of a box of popcorn with popcorn "spilling out" onto the rest of the page. I have also done a paper piecing of a Mickey Hat (used the Mickey stickers they gave away everywhere at WDW) for the "logo" and then cut pictures into circles to fit in the ears and also paper piecing of Mickey's yellow shoe, cutting a picture to fit. I'd say coloring books are your best resource, but if you have some kind of photo editing/graphic software you can pull an image off the internet and manipulate the size, etc...and print off a pattern to use.

Have you thought of a shaker of a Mickey head. I am using that foam that you get in the craft stores to give the dimension instead of the thick double back tape. I am filling the head with tiny beads. I haven't assembled it as yet but the same technique worked for a heart. There was plenty of movement with the beads.

This site has some great Disney stuff--kind of complicated but you could probably simplify it to your tastes and/or abilities.

Look under Amusement Parks. There is also an entire section on Disney. It's sub-categorized, so don't think it's empty like I did at first! Just look to the left and select a sub-category. LOTS of stuff here!

WOW!! That is an *awesome* site! Thanks for sharing it! :D

I see several beach patterns that I can use. Thanks for sharing.

WOW! What a fantastic site! Thank you thank you thank you! DVCajun! I actually think I may try paper piecing! The Animal kindom one looks great! KEWL!

You guys are really great!!! Thanks for all your suggestions. DVCajun, that is a great site! Thank you so much for posting the link! I'm so anxious to start!

Grover, as for the EPCOT globe, you might want to check out the new Travel Scrapbooks. It is a special issue by Memory Makers. I got my idea from here- page 88 to be exact! It is time consuming, but I think the finished product will be worth the extra effort. I'm only about half way through with it. I will try to scan it and post it as soon as I can!

Thanks again everyone!
Happy Disney Scrapbooking.

Kristin, OMG- I have that issue to!! I love it don't you, there are a ton of good ideas! I was at my LSS and far and away makes a line of die cuts specific to different countries, I think I will pick some up to match the epcot countries as well, then when I am doing epcot pages I will have additional nice additons!! You all should check out the travel scrapbooks-it great!

I need to take a coupon to Michael's and see if they have that issue. Sounds good!

I need one of those coloring books, too. Wish I'd known in advance - my brother is at WDW right now with his family. I'd have made him pick that one up for me! I have the cruise coloring book and it is darling! Wonder if I could call them and buy it? Or maybe talk a DIS friend into picking it up for me if I send them the $ ahead of time. ;)

Merry Poppins-get a message to your brother to buy it for you! Shipping from WDW is $8.95! PS saw your note about the PM but I don't know how to access that. Help!

Love the coloring book idea and the website is fabulous!

I'm embarassed to tell everyone how many postcards I bought on my last trip, but I haven't put them in my book yet, and if anyone could explain how I could possible scan these and share them I would be glad to do that.

I never considered paper piecing ideas-I'm going to look at my postcards with this idea in mind.

Dana

PS I think I was at two peas in a bucket when I saw a paper piecing pattern for Pooh and Piglet.

Ooooh! I think I'm gonna have to look for this on our cruise in October! :D

danareed, scroll to the top of your screen and click on "User Cp". People can send you personal messages and you claim them there. :D Some folks have found a way to have a pop-up tell them when they have a message, but I just check mine. Hope that helps.

MerryPoppins: I don't know if you got my PM or not. I would be more than happy to get the coloring book for you! Just let me know. You can e-mail me at disneychic1978@juno.com! Just let me know if you are intersted.
