Will be in studios at HHI/BLT/BCV in just 15 days! Do they still have paper plates and bowls in the studios, or have they switched to plastic/china? If still paper then we'll bring our own :sad2:

Thanks all!

Lin

We were in a studio at BLT the week before last and they had the paper plates & bowls. We brought our own plates, but did not even think about bowls. They are on the list for next time. The paper bowls were useless.

I typically bring our own microwavable, plastic bowls & cutlery. I will be shopping soon to make sure we also have one plate each.

For those buying bowls from one of the wdw shops - there's some very cute clear ones out there... but beware, they do not state they are microwave safe! I came close to getting those.

I wouldn't mind if DVC told us they were getting rid of all paper bowls, plates & plastic cutlery. IMHO, they're difficult to use and a waste of resources.

We brought our own bowls and large plastic glasses this time....cheap, cheap. Just going to toss them when we leave.
I do wish I would have brought eating utensils. Hate the plastic!!

Thanks, all, that's what I figured. Yes, for the money we pay, we could at least have real dishes, even in the Studios :confused3 I understand that we don't have dishwashers, but surely they could take the dirtys away and clean them?

Anyway, I'll be bringing bowls for our morning oatmeal :)

Blessings! Lin

Since there is no dishwasher in the studios and limited space, why would you want something other than paper products? You use them and just toss them. Makes cleaning after yourself fast and easy plus paper is biodegradable. I hate clutter.

Without a dishwasher, it would take longer to clean the studios and they would have to have a larger cart with all the dishes on them.

We stayed in an AKV studio this past May and they supplied us with TWO paper bowl and no plastic utensils. Plan on taking what you need!

I prefer the paper to any other inexpensive "disposable" options for studios. Most of the cheap styrofoams and plastics will not microwave without melting.

If you read the inventory list on the inside of the cabinet door (usually under the sink) it states that a studio should be supplied with 4 each of paper plates, bowls & plastic utensils. That would be 1 ea. for the max. # of guests allowed in a studio. If they don't leave the minimum you can call Mousekeeping & request more be brought. I put some paper plates , plastic storage bowls (similar to Gladware) & extra plastic silverware in our Owners Locker 'cuz that is just TOOO stingy.:sad2:

Why not use the ceramic coffee mugs instead of paper bowls for eating cereal, fruit cups, soup, etc? That's what we do.

I totally agree, hate it when we stay at other hotels and you get the styrofoam stuff. They always melt in microwave.

Good idea. :thumbsup2

Some of those coffee mugs only hold about 3 ounces! :rotfl: Where is it? Beach Club maybe that the mugs are about 2" wide and 4" deep? You can't even fit 2 fingers into it to wash it properly! :rotfl2:
