A paparazzo was charged with child endangerment and battery for allegedly striking one 5-year-old child with his camera, shoving another out of the way, and battering two Disney CMs to take pictures of actress Reese Witherspoon and her children at Disney's California Adventure theme park last month.

Todd K. Wallace, 44, of Beverly Hills was charged Friday with six misdemeanor counts and is due back in court Wednesday, Assistant City Attorney Patrick Ahle said.

From what I read, there were many children who witnessed the incident and were reduced to tears.

So much for these photographers innocently claiming that they're "only doing their job".

Sorry for the attackee's but GOOD for that creep. Butthead.

Reese Witherspoon was on Oprah yesterday. She mentioned the paparrazi at Disneyland but didn't mention the arrest. She did say that she had a plan for addressing this problem but wouldn't elaborate. Maybe the plan is pressing charges.

This was the second time it happened to her family at a Disney park...the first was at Disneyland, this last one was at California Adventure. Looks like Reese's kids love Disney!!

She was just so darn cute in that interview yesterday. I loved her telling about another mom (someone she didn't know) yelling at the photographer, "You should be ashamed of yourself. This is Disneyland!"

That's out of hand. I really feel sorry for celebrity children; that must be a constant source of fear for them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I wouldn't be famous for all the money in the world!

Rich and anonomous, yup, that's the life for me!

What a butt head. I'd like to say other words, but I don't think I'd get them past the filters....

He will just pay a small fine or spend a couple days in jail. It will just be considered the cost of doing business in the field. They can make $100K or more for a good picture. Spending a few days in jail will be a small price for them to pay. The situation is only going to get worse.

There's also a new law-

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a law on Friday tripling damages celebrities can win from paparazzi if they are assaulted during a shoot and denying the photographers profits from any pictures taken during an altercation.

The new law comes as Los Angeles authorities try to crack down on aggressive photographers following a series of altercations involving actresses Reese Witherspoon, Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson, among others.

As an actor, Schwarzenegger had testified against two photographers convicted in a 1998 incident involving him and his wife. He also once lobbied for a buffer zone protecting celebrities.

"We always said that the only way we would be able to curb dangerous behavior by these paparazzi was by going after their motivation, and that is being able to make enormous, outrageous profits," said the bill's author, California Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez, a Democrat representing suburban Los Angeles.

"Ultimately, when it got to the governor's desk I think he probably remembered his own situation, when he testified in court," she said.

A spokesman for the California Newspaper Publishers Association, which opposed the bill, said the group was disappointed.

"We wish the governor would have vetoed it, but it's not like we're surprised," CNPA general counsel Tom Newton said. "He and his family were victims of the behavior that it was attempting to end."

Newton said any journalists sued under the new law would likely challenge it as unconstitutional because it treats them more harshly than other Californians.

"We think it exposes people engaged in First Amendment activities to penalties the rest of the public is not susceptible to," he said. "If it's used in a way that goes after one of my members, I suspect that constitutional issues will be raised in their defense."

"Mean Girls" star Lohan and Johansson, best known for "Lost in Translation," both were involved in car accidents this year that they say were caused by aggressive photographers.

A photographer trying to take a picture of Witherspoon's young daughter at an amusement park was charged with assaulting two park workers after they tried to intervene.

Yey for 'Guhvenor Ahhhnold'!!!!!

I wish they could prohibit these paparazzi creeps from doing what they do.

Take away their livelihood.

That is the ONLY thing that will stop this kind of Stalking and Harassment, and Injury to innocent bystanders!!!!

If these guys are independent contractors, whether they are incorporated or sole proprietors, aren't they required to have liability insurance of some sort, in case something they do injures someone? I would think that they could be classified as uninsurable and put out of business if too many incidents like this happened.
