PAP upgrade with DVC discount question

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. This will be my first time "Home" and my first time buying PAPs. I currently have one 7 day PH with WF&M (never used) purchased through UCT. I understand that the best way to upgrade that to a PAP is to use one day and then upgrade, so WDW will credit the full rack rate towards the PAP. But, can I also get the DVC discount when upgrading? If not, obviously that isn't the best deal. Does anyone have any experience with this? I appreciate any tips or advice.

Also, can I/should I purchase the PAPs at the front desk of AKV? Are there only certain hours? Is there are better place to purchase PAPs?

You can get the DVC discount even if you are upgrading. You'll need a photo ID and your DVC blue membership card to qualify for the discount.

The resorts cannot handle any ticket transactions that involve APs or PAPs. You'll need to go to Guest Relations - at one of the major parks, the TTC or Downtown Disney to do the upgrade.
