I have quite a few panorama shots though non of them are digital and only a feware from Disney.

True, DSLRs do have the tripod mount on the center of the optical axis of the lens but when you try to make panoramas without any paralax error you need to shift the panning axis further up the optical path to the lens' nodal point and away from the film plane. This requires a special panoramic tripod mount.

I've only tried making one panorama, and it was several years (and cameras) ago.... I may have even made it from scanned pictures (I brought along a disposible 'panorama' camera on this trip)... I forget! But it looks pretty grainy, so I think it must have been prints. This is the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand. There are two cables (one is more visible than the other) that allow people to drop down the side of the tower. No way I could do that!

The view from our room in the Sierra Tower at the Disneyland hotel. This is toward the right. You can see the Back of Splash Mountian in the center. The view of the fireworks was great.
