We have been renovating our master bath and just finished. When I mentioned the shortages, DH said, “well, good thing you wanted that bidet seat”. Heated water, hot air dry... I think we can survive without toilet paper if we do run out .

DW makes her own cleaning spray with Dawn dish detergent and rubbing alcohol and used up the last of the alcohol to make a fresh batch yesterday. Looks like she'll have to buy a pre-made product when this batch runs out.

She also has to test her blood sugar, and we noticed Walmart was out of those tiny alcohol wipes for your finger. Fortunately she bought a case of 8 boxes of 100 online early in the year and they should last well into the summer.

I make a cleaning solution with vinegar, water and Dawn, she can try that instead of buying pre-made if she wants.
Dh has a couple bottles of denatured alcohol- it's pretty heavy duty stuff but it says hard surface cleaner on it so one could use it. Check Home Depot and Lowes.

We will be opening our camper up in a few weeks and I was thinking about how I should start getting things ready so I ordered some TP from Target, just got the notice it's ready for pick-up. Not sure if its because it;s thin garbage that nobody wants it or if we don't have a TP shortage here yet.

I used to make my own glass cleaner but the man had this thing about it not having that distinctive blue color and wouldn't use it. Gave it some thought and decided that him washing windows instead of me trumped the cost of Windex.

I have plenty of cleaning supplies. It's something I always keep on hand. My husband and I did go shopping yesterday. We use a water dispensers and I wanted to make sure we had a few bottles. We generally buy four at a time and exhange them when we put the fourth bottle on the dispenser. I buy large packages of toilet paper and paper towels. I've always bought a lot at once just because I don't really like shopping and having a large family we go through a lot. I'm a once every two weeks shopper except for perishables. Yesterday when we left for the warehouse store our state had zero cases because they hadn't been testing. I had heard horror stories of all the warehouse store shelves being limited but we belong to a smaller warehouse store and they had everything but cleaning wipes. Of course when we got home the news was reporting three cases in our city. Honestly I'll probably go buy a few more things later today. Mostly just food so that if we are quaranteened the young people in my house have food they actually like.

If the windows are really cruddy on the outside add a little cornstarch to the solution; works like a charm! I was really down when the NYTimes changed it's paper pulp content because it used to be great for cleaning windows streak free and of course cheaper than paper towels. Sometimes progress isn't all it's thunk up to be, LOL.

Well - my wife is really concerned that we don't have hand sanitizer. After we went out for dinner last night, we went to one supermarket and two drug stores looking for some sort of hand sanitizer whether it's alcohol based or just one of the antimicrobial wipes. Couldn't find a single one. At the CVS and Walgreens locations we went to, there were posted notices at the entrances that they had no hand sanitizer, masks, or rubbing alcohol.

Strangely enough we found something because my wife is getting really paranoid. We found a generic equivalent of Bactine, which has benzalkonium chloride. It also has lidocaine, and I'm not sure if it's that great an idea, but it was the closest thing they had.

I've looked around. Every other supermarket, drug store, or discount store is completely cleaned out of these items. I did see 2% hydrogen peroxide solution, but that's rather harsh to use as a hand sanitizer.

Just went to Rouses (our local grocery store) for lasagna ingredients and sandwich stuff. All was normal there. Shelves fully stocked. The only thing we can't buy here is hand sanitizer. I haven't hit all of the stores around, because I am not in dire need of it. I personally hate the stuff. I was looking for my kid, but our troop leader has enough for their camp out this weekend.

They did have employees wiping down carts before you take them. That's definitely new.

I got emails from Best Buy and Target that they are focusing on better cleaning and are upping their staff for dedicated cleaning jobs like wiping down touchscreens, carts, register areas etc. I told my DD I’d just be happy if they had cart wipes in the dispenser at my Target.

It’s only 68% alcohol, but Bath and Body Works had it in our area when it had been sold out everywhere else. Maybe you could give your local locations a call, if you have them.

Yes! I have several different vinegar concoctions to clean with around the house.

I'm with you there. Hand sanitizer is a last resort, for when soap and water are not available. It should not be a substitute for washing hands .

I use soap and hot water. Often. When I'm out, I wash my hands more frequently. I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I was sick. I never use sanitizer because it doesn't work and is terrible for my skin.

I have a bunch of little Bath and Bodyworks hand sanitizers here that I have been given over the years (preschool teachers tend to get them as gifts). I would rather take my chances with the virus than get the almost guaranteed migraine from the scents that linger on my hands for hours. I don't buy/use regular hand sanitizer either, but I've always washed well.
