Oh.
With my mom, they didn't know what it was, after taking test after test after test. Finally, they did an exploratory surgery and found the cancer. They don't know what it was originally attached too, it was too much, and too entwined with her organs. They couldn't do anything for her.
They set up the 6 week appointment but didn't expect her to make it that long. For the most part, my mom did well for about 6 months. She was strong, my mom would refuse to be anything less. The day after Mother's Day the hospital was planning on making a video showing others how to give themselves chemo, using my mom.
The very next day she went downhill and another day later she was gone.
Make sure all the affairs are in order. Will, living will, etc.
Make sure your friend has the support she needs. Make sure she has a safe place to cry.
I hope, and pray that things turn out well for your friend and her dad.
*I had to add, this was 11 years ago. Medicine has come a long way since then.
