Pancakes and Disney: the perfect combination+ Harry, Shamu, Space and MNSSHP upd 1/29

Ughhh I hate pushy sales people. I would run away too!

Bless him, all the excitement was making him sleepy and grumpy, like a 5 year old

I am pretty sure that is how most of them are...oh boys.:rotfl:

I love Jaws and ET..so cheeeesy but so great!

ET is a fave of mine! I love the queue area, it's so realistic and makes you wanna get ET home!

Today was Kennedy Space Center day, and dbf was as excited as my dbf can get (which is not very). He had been before when he was younger but thought it was boring and fell asleep for most of the day, as a result he couldn't remember much. He is a science nerd so he likes this sort of thing, I can take it or leave it. I didn't hate it, it was a quiet, easy going sort of day, and the best bit was the tour.

When we left I must of been in a daze because it wasn't until we arrived that I realised we didn't have a phone, or any cash. Luckily I had my card, but wasn't sure how much money I had on it or whether it would go through. Daniel was freaking out that he would'nt be able to call his parents all day, and blaming me for not being with it, being forgetful, saying I should get a grip, I'd ruined the day ect. Then I had a go at him, saying how it's not just my responsibility to remember everything, it was an accident, not the end of world, stop being a big baby ect.

Thank God that I had my card, and that it worked when we bought our tickets, thats all I can say. The moment the lady handed me my card back with our tickets I almost cried with joy that we wouldn't have to drive all the back to the resort. I managed to console Daniel by telling him that his parents would put two and two together and realise that we had forgotten our phones and that we'd be back by 4 at least so he could ring them then and there was no need to freak out.

Our tickets included a bus tour that started about 11:30am, but there were earlier ones it all depends what time you get there. We got there about 10:00am.

So after a turbulant start to the day we were off. You walk through the entrance and into a courtyard where there a various building that you can go into. We went into the building on the left which was a bit of discovery center/museum.

Holiday22011063.jpg

They have presentations but no one was really listening. In fact there weren't many people there at all. Daniel got addicted to a little game where you park a lunar craft onto the moon. And I busied myself by taking pictures, which is what I did all day... so get ready for a load of pictures.

Holiday22011064.jpg

I went to the toilet, got lost trying to find one, took an age, and of course dbf was really mad when I finally got back, and mad that we didn't have phones again. And I got mad and said what could possibly happen to me in Kennedy Space Center? And that I'm not an idiot, and can cope on my own for a while without forgetting how to walk and talk and eat without his assistance.

And that was the last we had a argument we had that day ;)

I went to get breakfast from a little cart.

Holiday22011065.jpg

And fed most of it to the birds. Daniel got a chocolate bar, and we queued up for the coach. It was fairly full, we got a seat near the back and we set off. This is where the onslaught of photo's begins :rolleyes1

Holiday22011066.jpg

Holiday22011068.jpg

Holiday22011069.jpg

The coach occasionally stopped for ten minutes so you could get out and take pictures.

And shockingly I managed to get a genuinely happy picture of dbf!

Holiday22011071.jpg

Here's a picture of our coach. Great for wheelchair users.

Holiday22011072.jpg

We went passed this builiding which was massive, and learned that it was used to store space shuttles.

Holiday22011074.jpg

Holiday22011075.jpg

Holiday22011073.jpg

Holiday22011071.jpg

Then we went to launch sites.

Holiday22011077.jpg

Holiday22011079.jpg

Holiday22011080.jpg

Holiday22011081.jpg

Holiday22011083.jpg

The tour guide spoke alot about the animals that surround the place and how they get all the animals out of the area before a shuttle launch by using fireworks. The animals would come back to area afterwards. They told us to keep eyes our for crocs.

Holiday22011084.jpg

We stopped again near the sea.

Holiday22011086.jpg

Holiday22011087.jpg

Holiday22011088.jpg

They also talked about the trawler which carries the shuttle to the launch pad. It spans that whole gravel path!

You could tell the tourguide and the driver were dejected that the nasa space program is being scrapped. They were pretty miserable about it. Apparently commercial companies are now using parts of nasa, but they have had no idea what else will happen.

Hi! I've just caught up with your trip report.. really enjoying it so far.. trying to remember everything I thought of while reading it... :goodvibes

Sea World - loved your photos, I've not been there since 1993 (aged 8!) and it's changed soo much, there were no rides there then just the shows!

IoA and Wizarding World... I'm one of the very, very few people who have never read or watched a single Harry Potter book/movie :rolleyes1 so I've not been too worried about seeing the new area of IoA.. however, I think I will need to watch at least one of the movies before we next go there, as the theming looks amazing! :thumbsup2

Sorry that you felt unwell that first night at the Magic Kingdom.. I understimated the Florida heat on our honeymoon and almost fainted one night  - quickly learnt to stay hydrated!

We eat very similarly! DH will nearly always choose a burger at counter service restaurants whereas I pick the salads & fruits :cutie:

Enjoyed your photos of the Space Center - it's not somewhere I've ever been but we saw it (from a distance) at Port Canaveral from the Disney Dream :cloud9:

and I love your outfits btw! hehe

Looking forward to reading more, hope you're having a good weekend,

Emma princess: x

The space center looks pretty interesting, I really like the pictures from across the water. Would you do it again? Or is it more a once every few years thing?
:confused3 funny how those little arguments come up on holiday. Seems so serious at the time and so silly when you look back on it.
Good work on getting a smiley picture from dbf! Sometimes can be quite a mission :lmao:

Thanks for reading!

SeaWorld is fun, you should definately give a try! Even if you just spend a morning or afternoon. It's not Disney but enjoyable in its own way. My fave show there is Blue Horizons, but we didn't see this year.

WWOHP is soo good even if you have read the books or seen the films. The themeing is brilliant, and there's a really good atmosphere more similar to Disney than Universal. Although reading the books will help you pick out all the details like us geeks

I remember reading that part of your trip report. I won't be underestimating the heat again either! It's amazing how much better you feel after a bottle of water.

I know! He generally eats whatever he wants while I try and eat the healthy stuff... sometimes I wish it was the other way round!

I'd love to do a Disney cruise, your honeymoon cruise looked amazing!

Thank you :goodvibes

I think it's a once in a while sort of thing. I'm glad we did it, and had a good day but there are so many other things to do in Orlando I wouldn't do it next trip. It was also a little bit neglected and run down and I don't think there will anything new to see anytime soon.

I know, at the time I was so mad! And now it seems stupid, we always have arguments that blow over in about 5 minutes

I've just realised that I put that picture in twice  I must've really liked it!

Hello again to anybody who is still reading this! Sorry it has taken me so long to do another update, I've just been so busy with uni, work, and then christmas. But I've got the next two weeks off, so I'm going to try to finish it.

We left off with a shed load of pictures of Kennedy Space Centre and here's some more!

We stopped for a minute to take some pics.

Holiday22011091.jpg

Holiday22011092.jpg

We stopped at the second part of the complex, and saw a little lift off demonstration.

Holiday22011094.jpg

Holiday22011095.jpg

And then we went into a smallish museum type area.

Holiday22011096.jpg

Holiday22011099.jpg

Holiday22011100.jpg

Holiday22011102.jpg

We poked around this cafe but didn't get anything.

Holiday22011105.jpg

Holiday22011106.jpg

Holiday22011107.jpg

Holiday22011109.jpg

Holiday22011111.jpg

Holiday22011114.jpg

We bought a cookie pretending to be an ice cream. And got the bus back to the main complex.

Holiday22011116.jpg

Daniel went on a shuttle ride which I flatly refused to do, sounding something like this... "I would to go one day without going on some simulator that makes me want to vomit!".

Holiday22011117.jpg

So I sat in the shade taking awful pictures of myself, as you do.

Holiday22011118.jpg

Holiday22011120.jpg

Till he came back. Yay!

Holiday22011121.jpg

We went a star trek museumy area, and a staff member took ten minutes taking this awful photo...

Holiday22011125.jpg

Holiday22011128.jpg

Holiday22011131.jpg

To be continued...

/

We sat in some awesome chairs and took silly pictures.

Holiday22011134.jpg

Holiday22011135.jpg

Holiday22011136.jpg

Honestly there wasn't much of an atmosphere it was very dead. We left about three. The verdict being that we enjoyed it once but wouldn't want to go back.

We stopped at the apartment to pick up our phones and money, then we were off to the shops, premium outlets to be exact.

I only have a couple of photos, but I was shopping which is more important than taking photos sometimes.

My bf was desparate to get a pair of Timberland trainers to replace his which were dying, but it soo fussy it's unreal. I really liked these, he said they had no support...

Holiday22011138.jpg

His poor old trainers (which he still had by the way... Yes, he is that fussy).

Holiday22011139.jpg

We went in out and out of every shoe shop in the whole place and he decided on some skater type shoes that he never ever wears, and that are sitting unworn in the cupboard at this very moment.

I managed to get into forever 21 and had a field day in there. Love that shop.

Then we were exhausted and needed fooooood. We to Vinito's an Italian.

Mmmmmmmm food.

Holiday22011140.jpg

Breaded mozzerella with tomato sauce.

Holiday22011141.jpg

Speaks for itself I think...

Holiday22011142.jpg

My chicken and spaghetti, simple and tasty.

Holiday22011143.jpg

Daniels viel and spaghetti.

Holiday22011144.jpg

He didn't like the thick sauce on the pasta, but I loved it. That's the way I like my pasta.

Holiday22011145.jpg

I do believe I wasn't feeling too good so we went to the supermarket, and got me some dayquil. Then we went home and hit the hay.

That's all for now.

Hi! Glad you are still writing your TR :goodvibes I'm not sure we'd go over to the Space Center but it was interesting to see your photos and read about it :thumbsup2.

Lol my DH bought some boots from that Timberland store a few years ago, and they had a 'buy one get one free' offer on - so he got some trainers for 'free' too!

Emma princess: x

Hi! I'm glad your still reading!! I will finish it eventually, but it's hard when you know your not going again for a long while. Writting this TR gives me the disney blues!

Honestly shoe shopping with my DBF is my worst nightmare! I love those 'buy one get one free offers', I can't ever imagine having offers like that over here!

Bit of real life update before I get on with the next installment....

We're going to Disneyland Paris!!!! :cheer2: We're going on the 8th of Feb for 4 days for my birthday. So excited! I get to use the camera that I got for christmas and hopefully get some good pictures even in the dark.

And now on to Magic Kingdom day! The day I'd been waiting for, I think I could spend the whole holiday there and still enjoy myself.

Tram and boat pics...

Holiday22011146.jpg

Holiday22011147.jpg

Holiday22011148.jpg

Another random persons head....

Holiday22011149.jpg

Holiday22011150.jpg

Holiday22011151.jpg

And we were in!

The first thing we did was stop in city hall and buy tickets for MNSSHP. Then we were off down mainstreet!

Holiday22011152.jpg

Holiday22011153.jpg

Holiday22011154.jpg

We kept stopping to look for mickey ears, but I couldn't find any! They did have some good hats... but I needed ears!!

Holiday22011157.jpg

Holiday22011158.jpg

Holiday22011159.jpg

We headed to splash...

Holiday22011160.jpg

Holiday22011161.jpg

Splash was down! It felt too hot for thunder mountain so we went over to fantasyland.

I had my first and last ever ride on Snow White Scary Adventures.

Holiday22011165.jpg

Holiday22011166.jpg

It was so busy, really long queues for everything.

So we tried Futureland. We went on buzz and Space Mountain.

Holiday22011167.jpg

Then made our way back to splash...

Holiday22011168.jpg

Holiday22011169.jpg

Which was working! It was nearly time for our ressie at The plaza.

Continued...

We were a early, the hostess gave us a buzzer and we grabbed a table outside.

Holiday22011170.jpg

Holiday22011171.jpg

I watched the parade.

Holiday22011172.jpg

Holiday22011173-Copy.jpg

How can anyone look so fed up in Magic Kingdom! A very hungry DBF.

Holiday22011174.jpg

And then horror of horrors my camera died! Don't worry we took pictures of the food on Daniels camera. I had a minor breakdown, whilst my DBF tried to calm me down with promises of fixing it later.

What half a day at Magic Kingdom will do to you....

Before...

Holiday22011156-1.jpg

After...

DanielsBlackBerry081.jpg

We really needed fooooooood.

I ordered a cheeseburger.

DanielsBlackBerry082.jpg

So yummy. This was a seriously good cheeseburger and I loved all the toppings on the side, so I could make it how I like it.

Daniel got the cheese steak, which he loved.

DanielsBlackBerry083.jpg

DanielsBlackBerry084.jpg

This was the best brownie sundae I have ever had! So good. Good brownie texture, soft and fresh, with good quality vanilla ice cream.

DanielsBlackBerry085.jpg

DBF got a banana split. I can't remember whether he liked it because I was so absorbed in my dessert!

DanielsBlackBerry086.jpg

Which I put a pretty good dent in before I admitted defeat.

DanielsBlackBerry087.jpg

The Plaza is a definate hidden gem, it's so nice to get out of the heat and sit down for a while. That brownie sundae is heaven!!!

My poor camera haven given up I couldn't take anymore pictures. But I can tell you we went on space mountain and splash, and then we stopped to watched the electrical parade. And it was really, really busy! It was the busiest we've ever experience at Magic Kingdom, there was no where left to stand, but we did manage to squish in somehow.

Daniel took a couple video's on his blackberry, their not the best but bless him for trying.

And then we watched wishes, which was such a nightmare. It was sooo cramped. You'd get a spot and somebody would come and stand directly in front of you. But we still enjoyed wishes.

We made our way out of the park afterwards, and speant the next two hours... yes! That's right... two hours trying to get to the car park. We tried the boat first...

DanielsBlackBerry090.jpg

Then we tried the monorail. It was the longest queue I've ever seen. And it was the first time I've ever been mad at Disney, but I was really mad. You pay a lot of money to spend time in a Disney park, and it should never ever take you two hours to get back to your car! Ridiculous, no matter how busy it is, they should have systems in place for busy times. A boat and a monorail is not enough!!

I have no idea why it was soo busy, and I'm not sure exactly what day we went on, but there was a load of tour groups so maybe they tipped it over the edge.

But that's my only rant, and apart from that and my camera breaking we had an otherwise lovely day, and I would go back tomorrow! But we were excited for MNSSHP and the low crowds it would bring!

I'm so excited to go to Disneyland Paris and compare all the rides. It's no WDW but it's the best we can do at the moment. Hopefully it'll have the same magic.

Yay updates!
Don't know how I missed the last one.
haha I am sure when I finally start my TR it will take years for me to finish so I think you're doing well.
haha I laughed at your 'cookie pretending to be ice cream' too funny!
That faker!
That is a pretty amazing chair. Perfect for silly pictures.
YAY DISNEYLAND PARIS!!!! So exciting! You have to report back all your findings.
Oh lord I could also start an album of peoples heads who I don't know...
Ahh MK so wonderful but so draining. Refueling with a brownie like that is always a good thing though.... really need that in my life now...

Lol, there is one picture in there where a woman is looking at me taking a picture of her... and she doesn't look happy! I don't know how I didn't see her in it staring back at me at the time! It's a fetish of taking strangers pictures!

That brownie was the best ever! Your life is not complete untill you have had one!
