Panama Planning

Andrew-
Overtime is generally paid at time and a half if you are an non-exempt employee working above 40 huors a week. In a nutshell it was implemented a very long time ago to "punish" employers who tried to work their employees excessivly. Therefore, any hours above 40 are a week are paid at an hourly rate and a half ($10.00 per hour becomes $15.00) for the hours over 40.
There are many more things that come into play but that gives you an idea.

Lunch is still "lunch time".
They are not the same or related.

I know we should have that but a lot of businesses in the UK, 'expect' you not to have a lunch break and not to claim overtime, in my contract, I am expected to work reasonable overtime but not paid for it.

That gives you good reason to look forward to your vacations then, doesn't it? A chance to get away. :)

Sometimes if you have to work Sunday or Bank holiday you get double time which means double tax also.

Is Panama about 5 hours behind UK time like Florida? Will have to look it up if so which will mean early afternoon I think.

I think its between 5 and 6 hours behind us, depending on time zones.

What time do they expect the Magic to go through the locks? I know it's an early start and an all-day thing. Should we just check in throughout the day? Does anybody have the link to the Canal webcam so I can bookmark it now?

Thanks!

Question for the WB repo'ers:

Do you know if anybody from your cruise is planning to keep a running blog of your travels, either as a DIS trip report or a separate blog? I really enjoyed following some from the Med repo last year. And since I have even more interest in this cruise, I'd lreally ove to read some.

Thanks Andrew!

That is true you have to pay for a internet package of different sizes of time.

We will have to have a whip around $

Photos are the worst.

Which is why it would be best to take a laptop along with wireless capability. That way you can prepare reports and things ahead of time and then do a quick cut and paste when going on line.

With pictures, in the past, I have resized them with PIXresizer (a great freeware program) before uploading. The pictures will be small when you post them, but when you get home, you can always replace them with the regular size.

Yes, I agree the best use is to have your own laptop, write your report into WORD, and then cut and paste into the Dis, hopefully its not slow itself at that time.

It will save you time and money and give us a great read.

Anyone else had problem trying to save shore trips into the DCL Wish list for the repos? Seems to have occured after he recent DCL upgrade on their website.

Good Morning All - TIME to get EXCITED.......

I have to confess that I am selfish - yup, I am. As much as I enjoy the live blogs from others, when it comes to vacation I turn off the electronics....so no live posting from me.......Still, the Eastbounders will be chatty for a while, so I will try to provide not so live updates to help move the summer along....:rotfl:
