Panama Planning

See being an Angeleno this statement I do not like. As much as I enjoy WDW and I really do. I will take Disneyland over the Magic Kingdom any day of week and twice on Sunday. I am taking this that the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland are idenical. They are not. If I missed interpited I am sorry. This is the way I took it.

Well I appear to have started a hornets nest so to speak but do not feel I need to apologise for that. To clarify - we are flying into Las Vegas for a couple of days, flying down to LA staying at the Grand Californian for just two nights and looking perhaps to visit the Queen Mary for a nostelgia trip.
If not we my just visit the park or perhaps lounge by the pool but there is absolutely no need to take offence at that I feel. This is a thread for pre-cruise planning and that is just what we are endeavouring to do.

No, he was just about right - 4 weeks tomorrow till we go through the Panama Canal. BUT 3 weeks on Saturday till the cruise begins!!!

Thanks to all of this talk about DL and DCA I may have to beg my hubby to spend a few days there after the cruise! He'll probably be since we were planning to go there after the new Toy Story ride opens, I think thats in June or July. Since we're AP holders it wouldn't add that much more cost to our trip right? Although, I may end up getting thrown overboard if I even dare to mention it to him!

Do you know what time in UK for us to Panama Canal? I told my friend to look out for us on Web.

They asked me what times? I have no clue?

Do anybody know what time now at Panama Canal?

Need to work out the times as my friend will watch it on web.

I think its about 5/6 hours behind us, and the transit will start early at 6am first locks should be local 7am -8am.

The new Toy Story Midway Mainia should be in Soft openings after the ship gets to L.A. I know the AP previews at WDW start on may 10th. As WDW AP as well guess what I am doing at 9 A.M before I get picked up at the Riverside.

The DL one should be open to all when the ship gets here to L.A. So you will be able to check it out then, if you have the time.

We have been to DL 3 times and we absolutely love California Adventure Park.
So, what do or don't y'all like about it? Please...remember, this is a nice friendly question and I am curious. I like every different opinion and I am happy to learn. SO BE NICE!

We go to DLR once a month or more and have spent many trips just at DCA, especially in the summer when it's more crowded at DL. We love Soarin' and Screamin'. When it's hot, we wear bathing suits under our clothes and spend hours in the Bug's Land area sprinklers, usually while we wait for our FP time for Grizzly River Rapids.

It's interesting how personally people take the comparison of DL and WDW, and in my opinion they are very different. DL is a classic and having grown up in Arizona we made a yearly summer vacation trip to DL, and it wasn't until I was 32 that I finally got to WDW. My first impression of the Magic Kingdom at WDW was that it was a watered down version of DL, and it missed the classic elegance of the big "It's a Small World" ride. Also, Space Mountain was very different, I don't know if it's changed since I was there in 2004 or not.

What I'm trying to say is if you have a chance to see the original DL you really shouldn't pass it up. While I love WDW and all of the other parks in Florida I think that any Disney fan should really see the original DL at least once!

Space Mountain was terrific when WDW first opened, but they have tamed it up and lit it up......not as fun any more.....Cannot comment on DL - hope yours is still the orginal exciting ride.

Space Mountain was re-done a few years back and is great. They kept the original track layout but it is much smoother than it was before.

Plus we've got the soundtrack blasting. I was so bored on the WDW version. It was too quiet and too bright.

My friend who works there swears it will be in soft openings. It may close at anytime.
