Panama Planning

Yes Andrew I am sleeping in. Like I said I have been there done this three times before. I see no need to cram myself between two people to watch boyency in action. If this is your thing, have fun. I will enjoy doing the things I listed.

I know what you mean and it is your cruise your vacation, so you can enjoy it whichever way you want, my DW did the laundry last time on transit day!

Now you see, to me doing laundry on vacation is just wrong. To me you are not on vacation if you are doing chores. Thanks for the backup, it is my vacation. I am going to be so happy I am not at work.

Yep, wasn't my idea.... the logic was it was thought to be empty that day...now coming from the UK, it becomes a three week vacation so has to be done sometime.

But I do not recommend it, apart from missing one of the wonders of the world, it was very busy! Everyone had the same idea!

Never been thru the Panama Canal. I'll be one of the two people your going to be between. I've been picking up film for a week now. I'll bore my family silly with all the pictures. Hope to see you on deck 10 - bring a couple of drinks - don't want to lose my place.:dance3:

No laundry. Just throwing my underwear away - solved that problem. Okay, I just created another one. I'll have to have a backup plan.

We managed a Cat 3 mid-ship so we will be spending some of the day on the verandah, but walking around during the exictment sounds like fun too.

Thanks for the photos.

Of course if our waitlist request for a Cat 1 comes through we may spend more time at "home".
:)

Good luck with that one! I think alot of us are on that list! :rotfl: :rotfl: We also have a midship Cat 3.

Thanks for starting this thread Andrew!!!:woohoo: :yay: So if I am on starboard side......what will my view be from my verandah.:confused3 :confused3 Maybe I need to go visit someone on port side to get my Shutters picture.:lmao: :lmao: Anyone offering???:rolleyes1

We're Starboard side, also....... Otherwise I would offer. :goodvibes

I did get the call for the WB repo (Cat 1 waitlist) so it does happen! Unfortunately, it was too much money for our family of 6. Good luck to you all!

I spoke to one of the DCL reps to book my Palo brunch and I was told that brunch was not offered on Panama Canal day.

Ok, being a bit nosey...but did you just recently call to get a Palo brunch booked? Are you in a suite or something? I would love to get one booked, but I was one of those in fishey land on 90 day out.

Which reminds me, we will be on the Magic when you EB have the 90 day booking window. Maybe we can pass along some special requests!

Hi Cheryl, I was thinking that your starboard side would be where all the people and Shutters' photographers will be. But like Andrew has said, it all depends on which lane the Magic goes into.
If they are on the port side, then you are welcome to come to our verandah! BUT, I am usually not that lucky though....usually I always get the opposite side of where all the things are. LOL

I LOVE this thread. I also got so giddy and excited seeing everyone make plans and hearing how things are going to be! It will be here before we know it. Can't wait to see how the Western-bounders do!

Thanks Michelle:hug: .....maybe we should all consider taking turns on each verandah!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks Debi....like I told Michelle.........maybe we should all consider taking turns so we can enjoy the views from both sides.

We emailed DCL after we weren't able to book online at the 90 day mark and someone called us back. I think you get much better results when you email them instead of calling. We were very flexible with our dates for the Palo brunch and they were able to book us.

We're not in a suite (I wish we were), but we're in a cat 6 so at least we have a verandah! :thumbsup2

Just getting myself up to date with the lastest posts! Interesting.:thumbsup2

By the way, had you thought about my request a couple of pages back? Would you be willing to share your recommendations for excursions at Cabo as well as the other ports?

Hi!

I thought I covered in this post before.

Yes

CABO I say try to go DCL, as you will get off the ship quicker, maybe an early DCL tour then you can go by yourself for a walk in the afternoon and tenders back should be open, there will be a delay getting off here if going your own so if booking the Dolphins there allow time.

Acapulco, Cici water park with Dolphins is the best Dolphin interaction I have ever done, in a salt water pool, no waves, and lots of interaction, better than Cozumel and Costa Maya.

Problem here is on the E/bound we are in very early and leave early, the fort is directly opposite the ship, you will see it, just over a footbridge, The old market is two streets behind that a 5 min walk, but not sure how early they will open, fort I think Will be 9.00am for a cheap trip market maybe 10am, but could be earlier if they know we are in.

Beware of the yellow jacket tourist 'helpers' they are unofficial there and pester you a lot, a firm NO and another NO maybe required.

W/Bound repo in Acapulco , I would say do it on your own, cliff divers by taxi and Market/fort. E/BOUND the issue is the breakfast time we are in.

ARUBA

A great beach pristine is just to the left of the ship a short walk, and no need to book a DCL trip, to the right a big shopping mall with designer shops.

A pirate boat trip has been booked by the E/bound Cruisers.

Cartagena Columbia.

Do a DCL trip re security there, and take care shopping is reasonable but Gems Emeralds are not the bargain you think. We went to an approved shop and looked over some emeralds, very carefully, and when checked at home they had a flaw and were cost price in London, exactly the same. St Thomas was far better.

Puerto Vallarta

Has a great town and beach, worth a tour of the old villages or go for a tour in the mountains, there is another great Dolphin place here you can book yourself.

I recommend the pirate ship here and book by yourself.

Be careful here, on my last visit as we left the port entrance swarms of people came up to the coach begging, and pleading for money etc.

The shopping area and beach is controlled, but be careful elsewhere.
