We're in Panama City now staying at Marriott's Legend's Edge. When I travel I often check out at least a couple of timeshares in the area. I find it rewarding and actually just did this yesterday in Panama City. I looked at 5 that were in the same stretch. These were Celadon, Emerald Isle, Tropical Breeze (formerly escapes), Wyndham and PC Resort & Club. I walked the properties and saw at least one room in each. I had previously stayed or or visited Landmark, Ocean Towers, and Holiday Inn Bay Point. Celadon and Emerald Isle (along with several I didn't visit) are actually whole owned condo's where RCI (II in one case) with inventory that ends up in RCI. I don't recall ever seeing these type of condo options end up on DVC's list.

All are nice enough to stay at and 3 are currently on DVC's exchange list.

The top resorts would be Marriott and Wyndham with Wyndham being in an ocean front Location.

One's at the bottom
PCR & C, Ocean Towers, Landmark are all worth staying at but not necessarily top choices or worth trading DVC for.

In Between
The rest including Tropical Breeze are pretty close to the top and worth considering even using DVC. TB is interesting since it's now part of the Orange Lake (Holiday Inn) System and it's a fairly small complex, I think it was around 36 units.

One other tidbit, Wyndham is building a large complex in Destin which should be very nice They are also adding a second tower to the existing PC complex.

My sister stayed in the Wyndham at Panama City last summer for a few days, renting points from Vacation upgrades. The unit and beach was beautiful.

However, the beach in Destin is just nicer in my opinion. Thanks for the info about the new Wyndham going up in Destin. I hope it is ocean front as well. Do you know if it will be in Destin or Sandestin?

I think it's on the bay, not OF.

Thanks for the reviews. Our kids want to go to Destin or Panama City in the fall instead of Orlando for a change.

Do you know anything else about the Wyndham complex in Destin? Is that close to Wyndham's Majestic Sun?

Darn it, I guess the Wyndham PCB location would be better then. It looked to me like it had many floors though.

I kind of prefer ocean front without the skyscraper feel. Maybe I will stick with Pensacola Beach. I want to stay at the Margaritaville hotel that Jimmy Buffet invested in a year or so ago. We checked it out last summer. Not a timeshare but the rooms are great, in my opinion, and we can get there is under 4 hours. Close enough for an extended holiday weekend.

Recently in Destin I have only stayed at the Club Intrawest timeshare. Nice, but on the bay side. When we stayed there we do have access though to a beach reserved for CI guests with chairs and umbrellas right on the gulf, only a short drive or tram ride away.

Nothing else other than it will have commercial options on the first floor. I don't know how close it is to the Majestic Sun.

Thanks! :)

I thought Wyndham's Beach Street cottages looked kind of cute, too. I may have to try for one of those.

We are headed to pcb June 2 with our kids' swim team. Team chose Tidewater to stay at. Prior to last October we hadn't been to pcb since before kids--about 1997:rotfl2:. We decided to go back in October, choosing pcb over destin because dh's golf buddies were there. We stayed at Calypso then. It was nice, (albeit had a few housekeeping issues)right across from the new Pier Park and we enjoyed seeing the ocean from our balcony. Tidewater doesn't have great reviews on tripadvisor, so I'm a little worried this time around:worried:. I remember seeing celadon and emerald isle(and we have friends who love emerald isle)when I was out running and they seemed very nice. Aqua was another one I thought looked like it would be a nice place to stay.

Anyway, probably more info than I should have posted, since nobody really asked, just adding some info if anyone was wondering about the other places.

All of those are Condo buildings and I'm pretty sure they are all under common management. It appears that most of the exchanges for that company go to Tidewater which is one of the larger complexes and maybe the largest directly on the beach.
