I have only cruised twice.
I am desperate to do this cruise.
What are my chances?
Would I be better letting DU try for me.
Can I try and DU and see if at least one of us hits lucky, any point pre reg or something with disney? Will it be best to try internet or tel ?
Any tips welcomed, thanks.

I would choose one or the other. Double bookings only drive the prices up for everyone faster than they need to be. DU has been great about getting bookings for many on the big opening days before.

Yes, that is true, I forgot about that. I think I will let them give it a go.
Thanks.

I've cruised 3 times, so I'm only Silver.

The last time a PC cruise was offered it sold out within a day or so - I know one direction sold out in 4 hours.

Do you think there is even a chance I will be able to book this cruise when the Gold and Plat. members window opens a week earlier? Or will it be hopelessly out of my price range because of the popularity and tiered price increases?

This dream may have just gone up in a cloud of Pixie Dust for me!

I know what you mean, I will be celebrating 40th in jan, was expecting to do something but that would be amazing, I cant work out whats going on in port canaveral that week, I am starting to think I wont be cruising at all for my birthday

Hi Scottish

I was not sure until it went sold out... then I saw cancellation so I booked it and loved it very much...

Now you should put quote to DU now if you want go in Jan 2011? before open date... as it went so CRAZY in 07 unbelieveable...

I have not read proper yet as I just got home now from work and want to know more information

I think silver CC members will have plenty of space left. Because they are choosing to bring the ship through the canal in January they are alienating alot of families that will not pull their kids out of school in January for 2 weeks.

The Magic PC cruises were in May and August so they worked better for kids in school and thats why they sold out so quick. I did the eastbound PC Magic Cruises in 2005 and 2008 and they were both amazing. If you can take off for 2 weeks in January, definately do it.

I am now trying to come to grips with the disappointment of not being able to go on the PC cruise. I am guessing that even if there are rooms available when the general public is able to book-the price will be higher that I can afford by then.:sad1:

It cost Dh and I just under $8000 for a cat. 6 on the EB Repo last year.

Thanks for giving us hope!!

Anybody mind what a lower cat cost, dont think we could afford a 6!

Looks like we'll have to get a lower category...that's if we have any chance at all since we have to wait until 9/28.

Hi

finally I checked with disneycruise, wow that it will be in January 2011, No good for us because kids go back to high school and primary school...

I am glad that we went last year at WB Panama Canal as it was awesome..

If you are thinking about it...GO FOR IT..

I feel there will be less children ...

After looking at the calandar-Jan. 6th will be days after the kids go back to school after having off two weeks for winter break. I hope this is a deterrent for many people looking at this cruise. Sorry if that sounds a little mean but I have wanted to go on the PC cruise ever since they started doing them and I have wanted to see the Panama Canal ever since I did a report about it in grade school.(no comment on how long ago that was:rolleyes:) This will be a once in a lifetime trip for me and I am willing to take the kids out of school to do it.

Now if only the prices stay within reason-especially since I have to book two rooms for our family of 5.

Do you think that DU will be able to book Gold/Platinum members ahead of the pack? Or is that something the Gold/Platinum people will have to do themselves to take advantage of the pre-booking window?
Thanks!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is the deposit that you have to put down per person on booking day refundable if you cancel by a certain date? Or is it once you pay, its stuck? I really want to do this cruise but I know it is going to cost a lot and if something happened that prohibited me from going, I would want my deposit back especially if its going to be several hundred dollars per person...I know the usual deposit is like $250 for 7 night cruises, so is it double for this 15 night one? If it were I wouldn't want to be out of $1000 if I had to cancel way in advance...

And Poohbug, I totally agree with you...I know it might sound mean to some people but I'm with you, I hope the dates discourage a lot of people with kids from wanting to book since that will keep prices down and more rooms available for those of us who really, really want to go no matter what time of year it is! It is so frustrating that the first "big" cruise that I want to book on an opening day comes after they developed this darn "tiered" system because now I'm going to go crazy from 9/21-9/28 wondering if the gold and platinum people are buying everything up while we're powerless!!!

The normal non-1/2 price deposits are $250 for 7 day cruises and $600 for the repo cruises. It is refundable if you book cats 4-12 but not if you book cats 1-3. The deposit would be transferable even to a non-concierge room BUT you could never have it refunded.

Thanks Lisa! That sure makes me feel better, since for the two of us the deposit would be $1200 and that is a lot of money to risk not getting refunded! Glad we're planning for a cat. 6 so thats in the refundable category. Of course with this booking situation who knows what will be available by the time we get a chance, so we'll see....but I really want a verandah.

For those of you who've done a PC Repo before, is it even worth doing if you dont have a verandah? I've never cruised without one even on my 4 night cruises, I just love havin one. But I guess I should have a backup plan if by the time I can book on 9/28 there are no verandahs left...is it still worth it to go on this type of cruise without one?

I'm right there with you and poohbug in hoping the date keeps the availability open and pricing down.

This month is way too stressful waiting for this cruise booking.

It was worthing to have the verandah for PC Repo!! ::yes::

At first, we booked Cat 9 then I changed it to Cat 6 with verandah to surprise to my husband's 40th birthday present...

We were glad to had the verandah as it was worthing...

but I am not sure about what the weather will be for 2011?
