Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

So excited to be knocking on the door of three weeks until we board. Beginning to actually entertain what clothes to pack. This is about the time I begin to have a cruise stack of things not to forget. Since we are actually wearing the same seasonal clothing as what I will take, it is harder to get into the suitcase until about a week before.

So...what is your "never cruise without it" item? I think the one item I would miss is my Kindle. I know I could actually read a "real" book. ;) The one item I never cruise without is the small size of room freshener from Bath and Body Works. I love that even if I use it once home, the scent reminds me of the cruise!

Would like to hear what items others always make sure to take.

I love the idea of Fish Extenders, but I'm not participating, so here's my "virtual" fish extender gift for

all of you

Hi! I thought I was all set through the Disney airport ground transp but because I saw others on the INCREDIBLE Disboards talking about nothing to Hobby, I called to check why I had it and no one else did only to find out that they were going to take me to the Geo Bush airport!! Thank you everyone for talking about this or I'd have been all messed up.

So now I'm interested in joining a group to get Super Shuttle or a taxi share or a bus deal to Hobby in time for my 1:50 pm departure on SW. I'm really new to this as you can tell so I'm not even sure how to get messages from anyone to anyone. Thanks for any and all help!

Hi RanCan,

I JUST found out that the Disney transpo I paid for was NOT going to Hobby after all. Do you have room on your bus/shuttle for 1 more? My flight is at 150P CT. Please let me know. I'll have only 1 large suitcase and a smaller wheelie bag as a carryon. Hope you're not full yet, but if so I'll try Super Shuttle.

Thanks! Renee
SR 6041 (I think!) I can update later if I'm wrong....

The one thing I brought on our last cruise that I will now always bring is a cheap soft soap dispenser for stateroom bathroom. I don't like bar soap for hand washing. And since its less than a dollar I just leave it.

I cannot wait for the trip. This weekend I am doing a ton of tomato canning...after this weekend it will be 100 percent cruise focus! Oh and I have begun gathering items but like you said cant pack since wearing the clothes!

Great idea! Thanks.

Our friends have book a super shuttle to Hobby leaving the port at 10:30. So far, there are just 4 of us, and the shuttle will hold up to 10. You are welcomed to join us. Once you are up to 10 posts, I can post to you directly.

Yay, thanks very much! I'll keep posting so I get up to 10! Thanks....
Just me, 1 big suitcase and 1 wheelie in case we start worrrying about overloading the shuttle.

This trip it will be binoculars, they came in very handy on Alaska cruise and expect primary use on Canal Day but also valuable along west coast for turtle, whale, dolphin and shark watching.

How does Disney handle the tender process? Do they give out numbers and times? is it First come first served? How long to get off the boat and onto shore. (assuming the people with excursions thru Disnney will have priority off) From what i have read it takes about 20-30 minutes for the trip to shore. We are not doing a tour excursion thru Disney and trying to determine how much time we will actually have on shore.

Three Weeks :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Never tendered in Mexico but in the MED we just went down and if there was a back up got in line, the tours came down and bypassed the line. I don't remember waiting long at all on either tender day, we had private tours and seemed to get to the dock right away.

3 weeks to right now DD and I will be starting our tour of Disney Studio and Archives, :cool1: Previous LA trips have toured Paramount, Universal and Warner Bros, Disney was never available for public tours. When DD got the invite for her and a guest could hardly believe our luck pixiedust:

Then it was just a matter of drawing straws to see who her guest would be, lets see she has the invite and I am driving, guess there are not many long straws left. What a great start to the cruise :hyper:

I booked to Hobby as well, months ago. It is so fortunate that I found this Board as I had no idea that they cancelled it. I thought maybe I had made a mistake and booked to IAH, but this confirms I am not the only one! Also my charges were $30 per guest and IAH is $45 so I guess this is more confirmation that Disney made a big mistake here.

I wonder if there are others who don't know about this and will get a big surprise when Disney takes them to the wrong airport. I did mention this when I called and he said he would mention it to a supervisor, but really Disney should have contacted everyone. Very unlike them not to be efficient about something as important as this.

I am also interested in joining a group. My flight is a 3.35 and there are 5 of us

The tours get priority and everyone else just waits in line. For Cabo there didn't ever seem to be much of a wait but we never get off very early. It is usually around 20 minutes to shore. Remember to take water with you - it is much hotter on shore than on the ship!

So our trip once again hangs in the balance. We have run into trouble getting our "new kids" passports. We have all of the legal documentation saying they are being adopted and that we can get passports for them, but some document was missing one piece of info or something. We have been assured that it can fixed, no problem, but I don't want to get my heart set on the trip happening yet. So if it DOES end up happening, I will be totally and completely unprepared! :o)

Oh no! Here's hoping everything works out. I have spent the last 3 days looking through every box in our basement trying to find my DH's passport so he can meet us in Cabo. As a backup I researched how down to the wire we could get and still get it on time and I saw where you could get it within a couple days so hopefully you will have plenty of time to sort things out.

BTW, found it tonight -- the third time I looked in the box it was in.

Ok, We will save you a seat. We should arrange to meet onboard the Wonder either by room number or a certain place and time. We do not have a room assignment yet. I will be on Disboard.com until Saturday. On Saturday, we will be off to Vancouver for our B2B2B, so I will not be able to reply. Right now, with you, we have 5 on the shuttle.
