Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

We're in Ohio too! In Cleveland. Denine, by any chance were you and your husband on the October Hawaii cruise? My group (me, my husband and my brother & sis-in-law) were on that cruise. While we were on the bus after the cruise going to the Disneyland resorts, we met a copy from Lorain County...just wondering if it's a small world and that was you. My husband was talking about the metroparks and all of us were talking about the fact that 30 minutes before we got off the ship there was an earthquake north of LA and there was a Tsunami warning in Hawaii. And of course all of us were talking about our various DCL cruises :wave2:

I have a sister who went to Bowling Green University in the early 1970's and my brother was out in Medina for a couple years around 2000 working at the Cub Cadet headquarters. We took the train from Minnesota to Cleveland for a visit, and spent a couple days doing the Cleveland sights.

Hi!:wave2:I'm wondering when the FE will be cut-off so we'll know how many are participating and other info. Do you post the list on here? I'm pretty excited and anxious to get going on the cruise with my :goofy: husband. (He once saved Goofy at Disneyland from some stomping kids and we got some great pictures in return.)

It is usually cut off a month before sailing, but it is up to the group. Plus I will send everyone involved a link for the document. I will probably let everyone have that in the very near future.

I await your opinions.

Thanks twokats. I'm getting really excited about this. Our travel agent said she's done FEs a number of times and really enjoyed it. She may be on this cruise too!:cool1:

Can you take care of your own luggage when you leave the ship, or do you have to check it the night before with the host?:confused3 Don't know if I'd do it, but just wondering.

Nice! We have a bad reputation but we've got so much to offer here -- except the weather! My brother-in-law lived in Medina until he moved to Atlanta a few years ago.

Hello, everyone!

My Husband Jack and I (Nobbi) will be doing a back to back from Vancouver via LA through the Canal. This will be DCL cruise number 11. We look forward to meeting folks in person. We're also doing the TATL out of Galveston in a couple of weeks. Love the sea days.

Nope, not us. Wish it was though. I would love to go to Hawaii some day. Where in Cleveland? We are originally from Cuyahoga County. Or, are you actually living in the city proper?

You can take your own luggage off the ship if you want to. I can't imagine trying to take off luggage for 2 weeks though, plus souveniers, alcohol that we purchased, etc.. But, maybe I don't pack light?

Where do you live now. We were out at our cottage at Buckeye Lake and saw that the sign had caught fire.

I live in Nashville Tennessee. We went up for the last game of the season for the Nashville Predators. Turned out to be the last game for you guys to.

We do actually live IN Cleveland - the "Old Brooklyn" area bordering Parma.

The DCL Hawaii cruise was fantastic from the standpoint that we love the sea days and we "got" to Hawaii. Our 4 days on the Islands were all FANTASTIC. All in all it WAS a great trip. But we came home knowing we didn't see enough Hawaii - honestly, we went into the trip knowing that (I called it the "taste of Hawaii cruise"). But it was a little overwhelming knowing how much we missed. Would I do that cruise again? SURE WOULD!! But I would also love to just do Hawaii

This cruise is one my hubby has always wanted to do. And because I love sea days and any cruise is a good cruise, I'm fine with PC.

I might be going on this cruise and trying to find out if there is a FB page for it or how is the FE exchange being handled.

My mom and I was suppose to be going on the West bound Panama Canal cruise this coming Monday, but unfortunately, we are cancelling it tomorrow. My 53 year old husband died a week ago, and I just can't leave my dog (like my child) for 2 weeks and being out of the country, makes it worse....and not to mention leaving my house empty for that period of time.

The WBPC cruise had a private FB page. Had a contact for the FE and a link on here that had a meet for the DISboards people....and all kinds of other meets....like game night......shots night, etc.

just seeing if this cruise sounds like a fun bunch of people.

I've seen some states mentioned previously, Like Ohio and tennessee......I'm in Indiana...are there any other hoosiers out there?????

First off we are so sorry for your loss. I pray that God gives you peace and comfort.

And should you decide to join us, welcome aboard!

DH is from Parma.

We have friends that went on 1 of the Hawaii cruises. After doing the Mexican Riviera cruise though, I don't know if I want to cruise the Pacific Ocean. It was quite chilly! I would love to go to Aulani for a couple of weeks! A girl can dream can't she?

Stitch68: I am sorry for your loss. If you decide to join us, welcome abaord.

I don't know anything about a FB page, if there is one can someone direct me to it as well?

Hi Stitch, Sorry for your loss! We do have a Facebook Page but it is private - if you friend anyone in the group you can be added - I am Renee Yousey Latta on Facebook and can add you.

I had an idea the other day about our wine tasting! Either we can just show up in the Suite and meet the new people that have booked it...:lmao: OR we can take over the balcony area on Deck 7 that is always empty - maybe on the canal day during the day? Just a thought.

Have we planned a meet our first day? I didn't remember - I know we have lost some of our planners. I also think we should make up name tags for our lanyards for our group so we can spot each other on the ship. I can do this if you all would like it - maybe we can come up with a logo. If anyone is really into this feel free to do it, otherwise I can come up with some ideas.

For our meet on the first day we have done this by the pool - it was kinda busy, in Preludes - again a bit harder to spot the group - or the best one was in Studio Sea - it was just our group so it was easy to mix and mingle. If you have had a better location or idea let me know - if no one is coordinating it I can - in the past it has not been more than walk around and say hi and get name tags for the cruise on the more organized meets.

I don't want to step on anyone's toes if they are already planning these things, but if no one is I would be happy to do this.

I am still trying to get a group of kids together the week before we leave at Disneyland to do the YES program - let me know if anyone is interested! Also, if anyone is wanting to ride share from Galveston to the Dallas/Fort Worth area let me know - we still have not rented a car - I am holding off until I see if we can get a group together for either a van or bus.

Hope everyone is doing well! I will double post this to Facebook group as well in case some are checking that more than here.

Hi Stitch68 :wave2:

We to are sorry for your loss and hope that you are able to join us for the East Bound. We have 2 little dogs that we hate to leave for a long time but have convinced ourselves this is one time it would be worth it. When we had big dogs it was not as much of a concern, we would take them up to a kennel on a wooded farm land with a lake, they loved it.

While there is not as much activity on the thread as there was on the Dec EBPC or the May WBPC, we are still expecting more to come :grouphug:

There is a Facebook someone did mention earlier, I can't help find it :confused3 because our profession does not allow facebooking, the last reference may be back 3 or 6 pages.

We don't have a web page yet like you did on WBPC or the earlier EBPC, but maybe this weekend. :surfweb:

:welcome: Glad you might be joining us. CruisinLattas is in charge of the facebook page and we are trying to get a lot of stuff lined up for us. Our host for our wine tasting had to cancel so we are trying to refigure that back in. The FE and postcard/recipe exchange is going and we are up for other suggestions.

I once thought I wanted to do the Hawaii cruise, but now I think a stay at Aulani would be perfect! And yes. . . . A girl can dream!!!

I would like to join the facebook group. Can you invite me please? Melanie Spees.

Sure - I added several today. I'm thinking Facebook might be easier to upload logo ideas as well for name tags. I have even had groups do a t shirt on cafe press in the past. I think with this being a longer cruise we have the opportunity to have time to do more as a group. We have just had challenges with original leaders changing plans.

Another idea for wine tasting - in the past we did cabin tours (although I think most of our cruisers have done this enough times to know the cabins) but we could 'host' a wine in each cabin and have it like a pub crawl. I think we could have fun running all over the ship and the host might even have snacks (Cheese Platters from room service or chips from home)
