Panama Canal Eastbound Sept. 14, 2013--it'll be WONDER-ful

I went into my reservation and found that the itinerary now has us debarking in Miami. Called DCL and there has been an error. We are still debarking in Galveston as of now.

I had not but I like the idea. Thanks

Mommaluvsdis and we are going in on Wednesday and spending a few days at Disneyland since they have never been. We are considering taking the Super Shuttle from the airport to the Grand Californian (cheaper than Disney) but then taking Disney to the port because of convenience. My DH'S used to live in California and says the Super Shuttle isn't a bad way to go.

I too had seen that awhile back and checked with them, it shows the same itinerary as the Dec 2012 EBPC. I was actually hoping they were switching it up and repeating for us but our previous itinerary is correct. They don't know why it shows 2 days in the Canal but are checking into it.:thumbsup2

Will look into it. Was looking at the Crown Plaza at San Pedro Cruise Terminal today (or should I say in close proximity). Shuttle from LAX and to the port. Will look into the super shuttle as well.

Thanks for the info.

If you are going to stay in San Pedro that is about the lowest type of hotel I would go. Just a warning to anyone who has not been there before but San Pedro is sadly not very nice and has a decent amount of crime. My DH is air force and I used to have to take the boys to the doctor at the fort there and we stayed at the air force inn once. All I can say is that I was really glad that the inn is gated in!

I have to agree. I live in So Cal and I wouldn't recommend staying in San Pedro. I'd stay in Long Beach if you want to be close to the cruise terminal. Ideally I'd stay at Disneyland, actually I'd live at Disneyland if I could!

As I am not local, I am just looking for a good hotel where we can shuttle in from LAX, spend the night, maybe score a late check out and shuttle to the cruise terminal. I would definitely but up for some reservations.

I know we are a long way out but wanted to see what if any interest there might be for a Pub Crawl on this cruise. On the 2011 WBTA we did one and it was really fun. We had shirts printed up and I was approached by several people who wanted to buy one. I do have to say that the crawl was really a slow walk as it included families and was generally a great time for the group to plan a get together and enjoy going from place to place. I know the group also had lanyards made for the cruise and lapel type pins. We also had a Micky Mouse Club night on the cruise where a non-formal night everyone wore their Mickey Mouse Club T-shirts. Was really a lot of fun.

Just curious who might be interested.

I'll admit it.....I am excited!

Just signed up for this cruise while on the Fantasy this past week. It will just be DH and me. We will try to stay at Disney's GCV a couple nights before the cruise.

On our last cruise we had lanyards made also, but besides our main meet after boarding there was not much else done. Although a lot of us kept meeting up in various places.

So far on this cruise we have the list started for the FE/Postcard exchange, the wine tasting and of course we will have the main meet which will be decided later.

Eva: we also plan on arriving a few days early and hopefully staying at GCV.

We decided a few days at DW before a 14 day cruise and day travel on either end was going to be away from work too long so ended up booking DW and Regan Library for March.

On our MED Cruise we made up name badges for our lanyards, it was easy to recognize each other all around the ship, really a great system for identifying each other. We also ended up meeting as we connected to the international flights, got a group rate at a hotel pre cruise and met at the Spanish Fountain for the show and a pre cruise evening together.

We did the name tags as well. Liked them a lot.

The fun part of our WBTA was that there were several events that many attended. Made it an option to other things and kept the cruise really exciting.

Most memorable was our silent 9/11 reflection we did. Met on the top deck, spread out around the ship and each person read the names on their card of those that passed on 9/11. Every person was remembered and it was a great time.

Yikes! DH just found out he can't take off 2 weeks at a time next year. They are going through a major project in 2013. So we are moving to another 7 night cruise. Sorry to miss this one.

We are heading home from Galveston after a great week on the Magic - starting the countdown to our DL and Panama Canal cruise! I could live on the ship! We took a foam mattress topper this cruise to see if we want to take one for our 2 week trip - after using it 6 out of 7 nights there is no question it is worth packing unless they change the beds in dry dock! I also missed the on demand room movies from the Dream. Overall it was a fantastic cruise! The staff we had were more experienced - I think some of the growing pains are getting better!

You probably can't compare staff on the Magic with those on Dream, a lot of the Magic turned down the opportunity to transfer to the new ships which gave them high percentage of new cast members or transfers from the parks. They were trying hard when we were on the Dream but just not up to Magic and Wonder standards yet. We did Alaska on the Wonder and found the beds to be newer and much nicer than the Magic when we did Mediterranean.

Renee, we are on the 11/24/12 Magic sailing - can't wait! Many in our group of 12 have never cruised before or have cruised but not on DCL. The ship will be decorated for Christmas and the biggest plus is that we get to spend 7 days with two of our six grandchildren!

We were on the 6/20/12 Dream and we were surprised to run into as many CMs from the Magic and Wonder as we did. We, too, heard from many that they did not want to leave the Magic or Wonder. Our server on a November 2010 Wonder cruise saw us at lunch on the day we boarded, so we switched dining rotation to get him as our server. We also ran into our stateroom host from that same Wonder cruise. That being said, there were a lot of new CMs to DCL.

Good to know about the Wonder beds! This was our 7th time on the Magic - right before the Dream set sail they were training staff on the Magic for the new ship - then quite a few tried the new ships - we ran into a few in December on the Dream - they were back on the Magic after the rotation ended. Everyone we had this time except in the oceaneer areas were well seasoned. I think some of the entertainers are thinking about a change - but I have a feeling they would want to go back to smaller as well after giving it a try.

Jan, you all will really enjoy it! We had a lot of first time cruisers on our ship. Many grandparents having a great time!

Hi Everyone!

Dh and I are back from our anniversary trip on the Dream. It was so much fun. We loved getting away for a few days without the kids, and it really renewed our relationship in many ways.

The ship is incredible...but I'm ready and excited to go back to the classic model. We loved our experience on the Magic and are looking forward to being on the Wonder for two whole weeks!!!

I'm in for pub crawl, FE, I'll-show-you-my-stateroom-if-you-show-me-yours, champagne girls, early morning running, etc.

I THINK I'm all updated on the roll call of the first thread. Please let me know if I've missed you or need to make a change.:cheer2:

For Disney cruises departing in the US, will alcohol be allowed to be brought on board at embarkation? I have only ever boarded in Europe and am not sure of the differences in this area.
