So we are going to Kona for dinner (our first time) and it is a given that DH will order the teriyaki steak and I will get something else and we share. So my question is who has ordered the Pan Asian Noodle entree and is it good? I would order it with the shrimp not chicken...do you get alot of shrimp? Are the noodles wide lo mein noodles or thin ramen noodles?

Another option is the mahi mahi....never had it but I love Grouper and Snook...is this a similar type of fish?

I ate at Kona on the 23rd for dinner and I had the pan asian noodles with the shrimp. It was fantastic, the shrimp were huge and you got plenty of them. Plus all the veggies were crisp, colorful and flavorful. I highly recommend the dish. Might post a picture later if I can get my camera to sync up with my computer at home.

I had the mahi mahi the end of Sept. It was very good. It was also a very large serving. I could not finish it all.

Kona turned out to be a very nice place to eat. We will be returning there soon!

If you check out the dining review board above, you'll see that I recently ate at Kona and reviewed the Pan Asian dish. I have a picture of it in there as well. The review is called Food-a-Palooza: 4 Generations do 8 days of DDP.

HTH!

My sister had the Mahi Mahi last trip. I tried a bite. OMG it was delicious. The risotto was fabulous. The Teriyaki Beef was very good also. I have heard such mixed reviews of the Pan Asian noodle dish that I did not want to try it.

The mahi mahi....YUMMY!
I've had it twice. I was not a fish eater up until 3 yrs. ago. I'd eat shell fish and such but never...:fish: !

Until my brother brought us home some FRESH grouper , pretty much right off the line. (He's a charter captain!pirate: ) I tasted it and...HEAVEN! :cloud9: SO now I am adventuring into Talapia, Grouper, Salmon, and the mahi mahi. I find myself oredering that over a steak or chicken dish anytime!

The mahi is very good and I MUST have my fish dry! (not slimy when you eat it!) It's a texture and taste thing:sad2: . Kona will accomidate your requests if you ahve any.

I'll be there on OCt. 22nd. Save me a Mahi-mahi!

FYI...We've eaten at Kona about 4 times now and the steak is to die for. My hubby always gets it. The sticky wings are FANTASIC for an app. and the crab cakes are good too.

I had the Pan Asian noodles with the shrimp last week and it was very good. I have not tried the Mahi Mahi yet. I took pictures, I just have not had the time to post them yet!:)

Yes I did read that shortly after I did this post, and I thanked you for helping me out! You saved the day!

Another vote for the mahi mahi. It is my favorite. I grew up on the S.E. coatst of FL, and my dad LOVED to fish so I had lots of grouper, snapper and mahi mahi growing up, of course back then we called it dolphin(the fish not Flipper),not mahi mahi.

The Pan-Asian Noodles are great! I recommend them with shrimp, as you get a lot of them and they are rather large (I think the 26-30 size). The noodles are lo-mein noodles.

On the other hand, I do not recommend the Asian noodles at Captain Cook's. They were bland, the veggies were too crisp, and there was hardly any sauce. :sad2:

I had the Pan Asian Noodles with shrimp in Feb of this year. It was awesome! my hubby had the Teriyaki Sirlion and it was also a pleaser. The one thing I will say is that we had a 8:10 reservation and our service was pretty slow. It was loud, and our waitress had a hard time keeping up with her tables. We will be trying it again this trip, 5:00 ressie on Christmas eve. I am hoping for better service!! Have a great vacation.

When I see pictures of the Mahi Mahi, it looks like it is swimming in a sauce. Is it? It the fish breaded or battered at all? My dad has been craving good Mahi Mahi since a trip to Hawaii in 1978, but he doesn't like plain fish in a sauce.
