When did Pan Am stop offering flights Portsmouth to Sanford? Loved the convenience~

I was bummed too! Really great people on the Pan Am flights and Sanford Airport was nice and quiet!

I thought they stopped offering flights in the 80's...I didn't even know they were still in business!

They stopped doing their Bangor to Sanford flights in 2003.... I'm surprised they're pulling out of more airports... sigh....

Looks like Pan Am has scheduled flights between Portsmouth and Sanford again. Starting mid-May, can book through early August, no flights certain days but coach fare in late June is 128 r/t.......

I know it's not an ideal time to go, but I am  wanting to see the mouse!

MOSMOM...I thought the same thing

I thought they went out of business, too!?!? We even had stock in the company! So is this *THE* Pan Am, or what exactly?

From my understanding the 'Pan Am' name and planes were bought out by Guildford Transportation awhile back and they then began service around the northeast, mainly at smaller airports. They were spreading their destinations out to the south a few years ago but in the past 2 years or so they have really cut back their destinations. Their "hub" is in Portsmouth,NH at the Pease International Jetport. They have a small terminal there with Pan Am as the only "real" commercial carrier with many independant and cargo traffic using the airport as well, as far as I know. The planes still have the Pan Am logo but it is also called "The Clipper Connection" . They run very limited flights and it seems they only schedule a few months at a time. Their prices are good and the planes and the staff were wonderful when we flew in '01. You can check it out at www.flypanam.com :sunny:

Onlyoneforme is right the current Pan Am is not the original airline.

However, I seem to recall that not too long ago they pulled out of some markets with little notice. This is a charter airline and I would recommend caution booking them. For your own protection use a credit card. If they quit flying there will not be accomodations made on any other scheudled carrier.

I heard it was nice and quick when they offered it and was some good prices. I've been lucky flying out of Manchester on Southwest. Just got a great deal, $54 one-way.

It was nice an quick and from where we live in southern maine it took maybe 30 to 45 min to get to the airport, AND you didn't have to pay for parking! :cool1:
Now to get a nonstop flight we either have to go to Manchester or Boston...Knowing Logan  we choose Manchester and that takes about 90 minutes...But GREAT rates on Southwest that I can't get out of Portland :sad2:

Portsmouth to Sanford flights did stop in Manchester NH AND Myrtle Beach SC, but the flights listed for May-August are coming up as non-stop.

Only way to go in my opinion....no paying for parking, I grew up in Portsmouth so I am very familiar with the area and have no worries about security of my car, and only one gate, one check in. Sanford being so much smaller than MCO, it is much quicker to get the bags, the car, etc and be on the way.

The extra drive from Sanford to WDW is a breeze compared to flying out of Manchester or Logan, each an hour from the house.

And the service is great. They used to have warm damp towels they passed out before the snack service to freshen up with, they have stopped those, but otherwise, won't hear a complaint from me. :cheer2:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
Three Cheers from this family for Pan Am...Let's hope that they will be flying in January/February '06 when it's time for our next trip! :jumping1:
