I would like to go to Palo for high tea. My husband would not. My understanding is that Palo is for adults, but would anyone really care if my daughter (a year too young for "adult") accompanied me instead of DH?

I generally am a stickler for rules, but to be honest she is probably the most mature and sophisticated member of the family and definitely would not be "childlike" or disruptive, whereas my husband might be

Anyone dealt with this type of situation before?

Yes, everyone would care. Unless she is 18, she is not allowed in Palo.

There is no exception to this rule!!!

I am guessing that this rule has something do do with the fact that there is a bar in view from the entire restaurant. I just read im my passporter that any minor caught drinking alcohol on board would receive a $250 fine and up to 3 days in cabin detention.

On the other hand, we set by three women in Palo's who were more child like than any 17 year olds I have ever met. If I had to overhear how important they were or how their gastrointestinal track worked one more time, I thought I would scream! I'd rather have set in Flounder's.

DCL has set up adult only areas onboard for specific reasons. Palo, the adult pool, clubs....all adults only so adults could have a place without kids/teens. My teens wanted to join us for dinner at Palo and we said no, not until you are 18.

When we sailed again and they were 18 and our DD joined us and really enjoyed it.....she felt like an adult then..I think she appreciated it more because she waited.

Your DH is childlike and disruptive??? LOL

Adults only is adults only. If they bend the rules at Palo, then they would have to bend the rules at the other adult only clubs, etc.

Rules should be stuck to. I think that you are a stickler for rules teaches valuable lessons to your children and I applaud that. More parents should be that way. What are you teaching her if you want to "bend" them for your own desires?

Sorry to jump in on this but I just wanted to get this straight. So, it is now my understanding that at NO TIME is anyone under the age of 18 allowed in Palos. No High Tea, nor brunch ?

Thanks for anyone posting to this comment. Our DD16, always has Afternoon Tea or High Tea with us when we travel and usually they are in lounges etc. that allow children in until a certain time of they day. Just confirming.. Thanks...:)

Yes, that is correct. Palo is not open to those under 18 at any time.

And keep in mind that DCL knows the exact age of everyone on board, and that the KTTW cards correspond to the passenger data.

So there's really not an option to bring someone under 18 to Palo, even if someone looks and acts mature.
