Palo with a picky eater?

My mom may possibly be joining my DH and I on our upcoming cruise and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences going to dinner at Palo with an extremely picky eater? For context, my mom does not eat any meat beyond chicken or pork, no seafood of any kind, and no cheese. We are planning on going to dinner at Palo one night (4 night cruise) and while we assume that there will be more than just the three of us at our rotational table, we don't want to her to feel like we are abandoning her that evening, but are concerned that there wouldn't be anything for her to eat if she went to Palo.

Any thoughts or experiences with Palo altering dining options would be extremely appreciated!

Have you explained the possible menu to her and asked her what she would like to do?

I'm not a picky eater at all and sometimes get a little put off by the food in the MDR, yet alone Palo.

I would consider the brunch rather than the dinner. There are a lot of choices already available on the buffet and I think the service team and cooks COULD be more accommodating with preparing something. Just my thought.

Palo has a beef tenderloin that I find awesomely good so she may like that. But if she is that picky, I'd think she'd be better off just getting room service. I know there is no way I'd want to chance ruining my Palo dinner by going with someone who is likely to complain that they can't find anything they like.

For those that won't venture away from the chicken/beef regime, there are plenty of options on the Palo menu for them. As several of the PP's have noted, show your mom the menu and let her decide. You might want to read the Palo review on FoodieTales, which you can get to by clicking on the link in my Sig below.

One of my favorite items is the wild mushroom risotto.

If she likes mushroom and rice its really, really good.

I'd make the reservation now (or when your window opens) and then go to the restaurant when you embark and have your mom discuss her concerns. I think she'll be pleasantly surprised at how accommodating they will be.

Thank you all so much for the feedback! I will definitely show my mom the menu and have her talk to someone the day we arrive on the ship about alterations to menu items if she decides to join us.

If she decides not to "risk" it, does anyone know with a group of three what the likelihood of us getting seated with additional guests in the main dining rooms is?

I consider myself a pretty picky eater. I don't touch a thing on the antipasti plate. My fiancée doesn't like certain things on it either so now she just asks them to put on what she wants and they're fine with it.

I don't like seafood generally but the calamari there is the best I've ever had. Other than that I don't eat seafood.

I also don't like cheese, but I get the penne arrabiatta and simply ask for no cheese. It comes with two (gigantic!) shrimp which I give to my fiancée.

The tenderloin is the main event for me!

I also am not a big dessert fan so I just get the strawberry ice-cream like thing that normally comes as a side with another dessert.

Reading that you may wonder why I bother going, but seeing my fiancée enjoy herself, as well as the setting, mood and service are enough to get me to go every time.

If you desire to be seated with others: Let DCL know
If you desire to have a table with just your party: Let DCL know
If you don't care if you are seated with others: do Nothing and be surprised
