We're cruising on the West Coast in July, and I've been trying to make reservations for me & DH for brunch and high tea at Palo's (which in and of itself isn't a problem). The problem is that we have a 2 year-old, and Flounders seems to be closed during the time that High Tea is offered, and closed during the time we were hoping to have brunch (Sunday 11:30). Has anyone else run into this problem? Could this just be an internet reservation problem? That seems like it would be an issue for those of us hoping for a little 'adult' time with a young child...

Is Flounder's really closed at the times that Palo's is open for tea & brunch?

If it is closed..check the cruise thread for your cruise date and ask if there is a teen on board that would like to earn a little money..and maybe hire them.

On our navigators from the 12/4/04 western Flounders was open 10-2 on sea days. It is very possible that the spots that were available are already filled by people who also booked brunch. I would keep trying to see if something opens up. It does look like it is closed during high tea.

On our past 2 cruises Flounders has always been closed around the high tea time(3:30-4:30). My DH wasn't really that interested in going. So our 1st cruise I went w/ a lady that I met on the Disboards and on the 2nd my MIL and I went. Dh watched our baby. It worked out well:)

We are also on a cruise in July with small children and had the same problem when trying to book brunch on Sunday morning. We decided to go ahead and book brunch on Monday when Flounders is open. We didn't try to book high-tea so I don't know about Flounders being open during that time.

We sailed in Feb & Flounders was closed when hubby & I had Palo ressies for Brunch & when hubby & I had spa reservations. Luckily my MIL & FIL were sailing with us & watched our 2 YO DS for us while his big sister went to the club. They babysit for my SIL Mon-Fri so I felt really bad about leaving him with them (they were on vacation to after all!). Flounders is only open for a couple of hours each day so the options are limited.

Good luck!
