Palo Upcharge and Tipping

I know there is an extra charge for dinner at Palo, but what about Tea and Brunch?

What is the expected tip for each?

There is a charge for brunch, but tea is free. Since you do not get a slip to sign at tea, to which you can add an extra gratuity, I usually bring phone cards with for that.

Just thought I would add that the brunch is the BEST!!!! I can't wait to go again in October and enjoy it.

The upcharge is a "built-in" gratuity for Palo. Tipping is a personal thing, and you are free to do as much beyond the upcharge as you wish. You can also tip with cash, even at high tea.

I didn't know if you knew the charges for each, but, for the dinner it is $5 pp and the brunch is $10 pp .... Andy

The kids have their own tea with Wendy from Peter Pan.

Tip and Palo for any of the meals as you would in any upscale, oustanding restaurant. Estimate what the meal would cost you and tip accordingly.

I specifically asked our server about the upcharge and she told us that the server does not receive the entire $5 or $10 charge. It is split with bar and head server, etc.

So be sure to tip in cash or on the tab, whichever you prefer. The extra amount you give in cash or on the bill goes directly to your server.

This is also true with the 15% that is added onto your bar bill. It is split 5% to server, 5% to bartender, and 5% to back bar.

So, tip what you want this person to have.

We are looking forward to Palo this time around, having not experienced it on either of our previous cruises. Can someone tell me what the proper attire would be for brunch or tea? Thanks!

We had an absolutely fabulous meal at Palo on our 11/8 cruise. Jeevan couldn't stop bringing out the plates !!!

As another guide for tipping , RCCL has one/two "upcharge" restaurants on their Voyager-class ships. They charge $20 pp, which includes the tip.. An equivalent amount at Palo is not at all unreasonable.

We had a Fabulous Brunch at Palo's on our 11/8/03 cruise. The food selection is outstanding, and you'll eat the BEST shrimp on the boat, the BEST desserts, and drink the BEST coffee. I dragged my DH there reluctantly - he couldn't believe there would be an "upcharge" to eat on the Disney cruise after all we paid for the cruise. Well, he still can't stop talking about the "Best Meal we had on the cruise!!!" Our waiter was Marco (authentic Italian, with dreamy blue eyes and 5 yrs of excellent service experience!). We did give him an additional tip because he was so above-and-beyond. That evening was lobster tails at dinner (which we love), and we had a very difficult time finding room to fit them in our still very-full timmies from a 10:30 AM Brunch!

As for dress code - my DH wore his suit, and I wore a nice dress (equiv to a semi-formal dress), but my DH quickly removed his tie and suit jacket when we saw how casual many people were dressed that morning. Nobody was in shorts, but we expected a higher dress code for Palo's. Nevertheless, my hubby felt more comfortable in just his suit pants and a dress shirt with the top button undone. Maybe people dress-up more for dinner at Palo's (which we will try without hesitation the next time we are on a Disney cruise!)
