We have 14 adults in our group....

We want to book the private dining room in Palo one night on our cruise next summer.

Is that something that needs to be done in advance (i.e. through our TA) or can we book the private dining room once we board the ship & do our Palo ressies??

Susan,
Last year we booked Palo brunch for two groups of 8 on different days (Needed to split up babysitting duties) Anyway, we made those reservations just like all Palo reservations, except they were handled directly by the Palo manager when we got to Rockin Bar D to make ressies. They had limited times slots available (Especially Brunch).. All we needed were a list of room #s to be included with the group.

As a side, the large room is at the far end of Palo and to me lacks the ambiance of the rest of Palo. Not bad, but just not as "intimate". Probably not important for a group, but for me in the future, I will try to go with smaller groups with regular seating.

Just my personal recommendation- I assume your group will dine together every night during regular rotation - I would let individual couples do Palo on their own as a special night not with the group.

Mostly the couples will do Palo individually - but we want one brunch or dinner as a celebration with all of us together (and no kids). :)

We have a fellow DIS'er on our cruise who has set up the Palo private dining room for 14. I believe she called Debbie in DCL dining and did it that way. She tried to set it up for brunch, but because we're on the 4 night and they only offer it one day, she wasn't able to book that. Here is the link to our "Meet" thread and you can take a look at Gails post, 4 down http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=523465&perpage=15&pagenumber=17.

We went in July 2004. We had 11 adults. They put us in the private room for brunch. It was very nice, but hot. For dinner they put us at the round table in the middle. That was much better. We had great service. They brought all the appetizers family style so we could try everything. Then we each ordered a main course. Then for dessert we each had a choc. souffle and they brought one of everything else to try. We were stuffed. They service was wonderful and we stayed for hours just visiting. It was perfect.

Susan,

We just got off the Magic last Saturday:sad: and we had dinner with 10 other people in the large group room at Palo.

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot even begin to explain how great it was. Sasha was our server and he is FANTASTIC. To bad once his current contract is up he is going home to Croatia. Disney is losing one of their very best servers.

There were 12 of us at this dinner and there was a photographer there taking group and individual pictures.

Sasha not only took our appetizer orders, he brought to the table each type of appetizer pizza they offer at Palo. We were all having a blast passing them around and sampling each one. We also shared the other appetizers with each other.

And even though we were off the main dining area we did enjoy the Palo atmosphere. Sasha made sure of that. I can't say enough good things about Sasha. Anyone who has experienced having him as a server knows what I am talking about.

I guess I should also mention that the group of us dining together had only met online before our cruise. We all had a great time getting to know one another and some lasting friendships have definetly formed.

Book the group room as soon as you can. You will thoroughly enjoy every minute of it.
