Palo - how are to get ressies

How hard is it to get reservations at Palo??
From what I've read, as soon as we get on the ship one of us needs to wait in line??

Is every night a different menu???

You need to make Palo reservations as soon as possible after boarding. In my experience, it isn't hard to get a reservation on a 7 night cruise--it might be difficult to get the date and time that you prefer. If you can't get what you want, you can always be placed on the wait list, which frequently comes thru. With the earlier boarding, they might not even be taking reservations till after you've had a chance to have lunch.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have learned the "game" to get more than one night at Palo's. If you are travelling with friends or have 2 cabins for your family, you can make a reservation for each cabin. For example, you are in 6000 and your friends are in 6002. You each make a reservation for 4 on different nights. Then each family enjoys 2 nights at Palo. It rather defeats the idea of one reservation per cabin. However, frequently people who eat there once will then cancel their "second" reservation.

As far as I know, there is only one menu in Palo's at dinner.

On our four-day November 23-27 cruise, we got to the sign-up location (in Wavebands) just a few minutes before they started taking reservations. I had to wait just a couple of minutes for one other person to get finished before I was able to make my reservation. From the look of the book, I could have had my pick of times and dates. The line to change dinner seating times was much longer, as a matter of fact.

However, I tried to call Palo later in the afternoon to see if we could move from a 7:00 reservation to a 6:30 time, and their recording said that all tables were booked for the entire cruise.

While I don't think you need to get to the reservation desk as soon as the ship boards (you'd have to wait an hour or so until they started taking reservations), I would recommend getting there as soon as possible after they open. Our ship wasn't at capacity, so I don't know how that might affect things too.

Just got back from the 7 day Eastern.

We had stayed at WDW and took Disney transport to the ship. Arrived at the ship shortly after 1pm.

I went straight to Rockin D to make Palo reservations and got the second to last reservation available for the week. My brother in law who was a few steps behind was shut out.

I had heard that reservations were not that hard to get on a 7 night so I hadn't worried, but our recent experience proved otherwise.

Just a thought.....
I have read many times here of people describing their experience at Palo and mentioning over and over how many tables were empty when they went. Someone suggested if you are unable to get reservations- to try showing up and asking if you can be seated. Apparently not everyone who makes reservations ends up going!
Just a thought if you really really want to go to Palo and are unable to secure a reservation- worth a try!

Even if Palo is completely booked....always leave your name on the waitlist....it usually works out...it did for us.
