This cruise is a present from my mom, so I'm thinking about taking her to Palo to eat as a thank you.

Would y'all recommend brunch or dinner?

If your mother, like mine, has mobility issues, she might prefer dinner. Brunch needs a lot of walking.

No mobility issues thankfully. I read there are crab legs at brunch, I think that may sell her on that, it's her favorite thing to eat ever lol.

Is this something that I book ahead of time? Or do I do it when we get on the cruise? We've never sailed with Disney before

Book it when your excursion booking window opens. If you can't get a reservation (brunch is only on sea days, so more limited than dinner reservations), keep checking, as people cancel. If that doesn't work, go to where the Palo dining changes are being handled as soon as you embark the ship (it will be noted in the Navigator you get in the terminal where/what time this is), and see about making a reservation. DCL does hold back a number of reservations to be done once onboard.

Good luck.

Yes, but the crab legs are on ice, not hot with drawn butter. As long as she realizes that, she'll be fine.

We chose brunch so as not to miss an MDR experience. Plus, dinner was important family time for us to have with DD.

If you can, you should do both. They are radically different.

The brunch has better food, but I think the dinner is more elegant.

I agree with the majority here. We greatly enjoy the brunch, and book it every cruise. We haven't done dinner for our last several cruises.

Dh and I are the minority, we prefer dinner but given the chance, would do both! After many many cruises on many lines, Palo remains our very favorite specialty restaurant of all time.

We did both on our Alaska cruise in August of 2014 and will be enjoying both again on our cruise which begins Sunday Jan 10:)

We've never had the desire to go to dinner, but brunch is amazing! I love the chicken parm, eggs Benedict, and blue cheese and grape pizza. Sticky buns are a must! And it's always nice to people watch the passerby who doesn't know there's a restaurant inside all those windows!

Both are great, but if you do Brunch eat a very small breakfast if any at all.

You will want to try everything, but can only eat so much.

TRUST ME I KNOW!

We love to do both Palo brunch and dinner. Dinner is more elegant, quiet, and romantic (especially at night when the restaurant is dimly lit), while brunch is bright & airy. The food is amazing at each meal, though I found I got fuller faster at brunch as there was no pacing like there is at dinner. Can't wait for our cruise in August for some tenderloin, chicken parm and of course the chocolate soufflé!
