Shorts are ok and jackets aren't required. Don't believe me? Check out this thread. Second picture. Yep - that's the captain standing in front of a dude wearing shorts and no jacket in Palo. And he's not getting kicked out!

So hopefully that settles this debate once and for all! :hyper:

As for me, I'm going to give it a go without shoes next time I'm on board.

Sam

And if you look closely you will notice that there isn't anyone else in the restaurant except for the wedding party.

I wouldn't try getting into Palo's in shorts or barefeet, if you seriously expect to be served. They will turn you away in a heartbeat if you showed up for dinner dressed like that.

K folks... there's a reason I put a :hyper: in my post.

Think about it. And take off your serious hats for a moment. :D

Don't even get me started.
Follow the dress code!
It is that simple. Everyone has to have some excuse or reason why they are exempt or should allowed some latitude.

Hey guys--let's relax here. The original post was in jest. Yes, he was in shorts, but this was a different situation.

No need to jump all over the poster as she was just kidding around on this.

What difference did it make if the man was in shorts ? I think the dress code is soooo silly. I would much rather sit with a well read, well traveled, witty person in shorts and a tank top than a loser in a suit or tux. And yes, I am aware that everyone in shorts is not fabulous company at dinner. I'm sorry, clothes do not make the man/woman, and I can't imagine judging someone on their attire. Who cares ?

Thank you, Sue Ellen! I'm glad someone gets my wry, dry humor. Dress codes are such a hot topic on these threads, I couldn't resist a chance to poke fun at the topic. ;)

Regardless of the circumstances, a picture of a man in shorts, without a jacket, in front of the captain in Palo was the perfect opportunity!

Wide Awake, I don't think its a matter of judging someone on their attire. Palo is supposed to be a very special "grown up" place to dine. There's something about dressing up and going out that sets the experience apart from our everyday lives. Disney is expert at creating atmosphere, and if this particular one goes against your grain, it may not be for you.

I totally agree! i think the people that are all about dressing up just dont get to do it very often, and thats ok! but the rest of us shouldnt have to dress up just to have dinner! From all I have read about Palo, there isnt much difference than the upscale resturants we have at home. and we go to these places all the time in shorts and t-shirts. this is VERY silly IMO. we are doing the bruch just so we dont have to dress up! we are going on vacation for 3 weeks and you can only take so much luggage!!!! I mean, its disney people lighten up.

Wow, that is really harsh, and extremely judgemental.

The cruise does not require you to "dress up" to eat dinner at all of their dining rooms. Just Palo, and some formal nights.

Again, if you have a problem with this, acknowledge that it is your problem, but please don't try to spoil it for the rest of us. I enjoy dressing up and going out to eat in a nice atmosphere. If you don't then please avail yourself of all of the other areas of the ship where more casual attire is welcomed.

It really shouldn't be that big of a deal.

lauri,

please go back and re-read my post. i never said i was going to crash dinner at palos! and I didnt mean that post to be harsh, just matter of fact.

We did the brunch also since I really don't like getting dressed up a lot but we did put on slacks and a nice blouse...there was no one there even at brunch wearing shorts....

Maybe its all the Hurricanes, maybe it is the recent tragedy that has drawn so much sympathy and attention on the Boards, or maybe its the final stress as we wait for the first portion of 2006 dates to be released, but this thread shows evidence that there are many people whose submissions reveal that they sure could use a 4 or 7 day DCL cruise, including CC, to relax.

If any of you call me Francis...I'll kill ya! :)

I really think we need the Debate Board back. People obviously miss it so much, they go looking for a fight anywhere on the baords. If poeple stopped to read the post instead of jumping to conclusions at the topic, we'd all be a much happier place.

The bottom line is that a business has the right to have a dress code. They also have the right to enforce it as they see fit. The courteous thing for passengers to do is follow the dress code, or eat in the other venues.

Now, you folks behave, or we will have to give you the "Spatula Treatment".;)

This made me snort my coffee. Thanks for the morning laugh.

Of course, i misread it as "And he's getting kicked out", which was even funnier, since I pictured the first big marital spat.

It's refreshing to find someone else here with a sense of humor. :D
