Did you enjoy the Palo dinner, is it worth booking? Also, if you have young kids, what do you do with them during that time?
Newbie here! Thanks so much.

Hi and welcome! We love Palo dinner, it's a must do for us. When our kids were younger they went to the kids club during our reservation time.

Palo dinner is wonderful and a nice adult only break. The view of the sunset and dinning experience are worth every penny to us.

Our DD used to go to the nursery but now goes to the kids klub while we have our Palo.

We loved our dinner at Palo and was definitely worth the $30/person! Our DS was 5 yrs and went to the oceaner’s club where they fed him dinner while we were out.

Our DD eats around 6 and we like to eat Palo around 7ish to we normally order room service or pick up food at the quick serve for her to eat before she goes to the club.

That way we know she has eaten. If we send her to the club without dinner, she will just keep playing and not eat or they may serve something she doesnt like.

We love going to Palo/Remy. When the kids were 11 & 9, we dropped them off at the MDR of the night where our server got them fed, then escorted them to the club.

We love Palo dinner and though our kids are teens and are fine with eating on their own I still book Palo for 6 PM and then go sit with them at our 8:15 PM dinner. Sunsets and moon rises on the water in Palo are magical. :)
If you have early dining, you could take the kids to dinner at 5:45 and then check them into the clubs while you have a 7 or later dinner at Palo. That way you are still hanging out with them for awhile at dinner.

I'm in the minority in that I think Palo dinner is fine... I didn't think my meal was much beyond some of the food I had in MDR. The only exception is the chocolate souffle. That's exceptional. I've been twice (we went back a second time to make sure our first experience wasn't a fluke). Dinner the second time (and both DH and I ordered completely different things) was just as underwhelming as the first time.

Now brunch was a different story. I LOVED brunch and thought it was worth every penny. So delicious.

Check the sunset time for the specific cruise you are on so you can determine if a Palo dinner with sunset is possible...I will say, it is a magnificent view...funny story: years ago I wanted to go to Palo but didn't want to go alone (I am a single mom)...I went to the singles mingle lunch to see if I might find someone who wanted to go with me...well, dismal attendance left me with two CMs and that's about it. One of the CMs wanted to "find me a date" - and she did (it was also dismal) but because everyone at Palo knew the CM had "fixed us up" we had the best table in the restaurant...the view was amazing (him leaving me with the bill was not)...still worth it...I can picture it now...

We absolutely love Palo dinner (not to mention their brunch) and highly recommend it. I did a review for FoodieTales a few years ago that might help you decide. Check the link in my Sig below.

I completely agree with this. I don't think Palo dinner is very good. If you are specifically looking for a quieter, adults-only dinner, then, yes, it's good for that, but I didn't think the dinner or service were very good. The brunch was fantastic, though!

While I haven't done Palo dinner, we have done brunch. (We didn't want to miss all the main dining menus for our first cruise, and figured it would be easier to snag some "grown up time" during the day.)

DD5 went to the Oceaneer's Club/Lab during our brunch. I want to say our reservation was for 10:00 AM, and we were there for almost two hours. When we went to get her at noon, she actually didn't want to leave because something with a character was about to start! So she ended up staying until almost 1:00 PM that day.

I'd like to do the dinner next time just to test it out. The brunch was WAY too much food for me, but it was all delicious!

Dinner at Palo was lovely and the food is terrific - much better than average Italian. When planning our second cruise for this May, my husband and I had to consider whether or not Palo was worth doing again. The answer was "yes" - it was an enjoyable evening. However, had we not gotten the day and time we wanted (which we did), I would not have been heartbroken to miss it. In short, Palo is definitely worth doing, IMHO, but not in the "not to be missed" category.

Palo is quite good - a lovely atmosphere and wonderful service. IMHO, it's on par with many high end Italian restaurants in urban areas. Not sure which boat you're sailing on, but if it's Fantasy or Dream, it's worth considering the bigger upcharge to eat at Remy. It's two notches above Palo - definitely exceptional. Count on 3 hours for dinner and for the kids to be in the nursery or clubs if you go to Remy.

I would eat at Palo every night on a cruise if they would let me, lol. This is largely because the food at Palo is quite good, but mostly because the food in the MDRs, at least in my opinion, is mediocre at best. Palo is a huge improvement even if it doesn't meet some folks' definition of fine dining. I've always enjoyed the food there though. Agree that brunch is better than dinner, but I enjoy Palo dinner as well. The setting is fantastic, and we've always had excellent service there. Our kids have always eaten in the MDRs while we've dined at Palo. When they were younger, they were accompanied by older kids of the friends we usually travel with, and when they got to be tweens and teens, they were fine going to the MDRs on their own. A girlfriend and I did a B2B of a 2-night and 3-night cruise as a girls' trip a couple of years ago, and we ate at Palo four times: two brunches and two dinners. It was awesome :)

With the current program they're offering, you can book Palo twice before you get on board, as long as one of the nights is the first night of the cruise. I would guess if you really wanted to eat there every night, just call and ask if you can. If they have the room I'm sure they'd be happy to accommodate you.
