Just checking to see if I understand this right. To eat at Palo the only extra cost is $10 per person? Or do you have to pay for your meal if you eat there as well? thanks.

yep..$10 per person extra (and I believe a tip is recommended as well)

First off, let me say that I am NOT a cheapskate...

That said, I admit to not tipping *seperately* from the $10 surcharge. FWICT, the surcharge is technically your tip to the server/maitre d', since they don't get a cut of the tip you give to the servers/etc. at your rotational dining rooms.

This is not to say that I didn't SUPPLEMENT the $10 charge with more, considering the fact that the service at Palo was exceptional (as it was all over the ship), but I didn't tip as if that surcharge wasn't there. Am I making any sense at all?

The $10 per person is the tip ... you don't pay for the food or anything else ... anything extra you pay is extra tip for the server, you are not obliged but if you feel the service warrants more than $10 per person, by all means, pay more. When it was $5 per person last year we paid $15-$20 per person .. our server was FANTASTIC!!

We feel that the $10 per person is the best bargain on the ship. The meal at Palo is superb, just like at an excellent restaurant on land. The one it reminds me most of is D'Antonio's in downtown Celebration, where hubby and I typically pay close to $100 for a meal for the two of us. Based on that, we give an additional $20, plus whatever the autogratuity is on any wine hubby orders.

our 'free' meal cost us more like $60 -- but we are total schmoozes. My DH was in the 'live it up' mood and ordered Evian (we weren't prepared to make a decision on what type of water we wanted LOL) -- we each had a glass of wine and our servers convinced us that he made the BEST cappucinos that would cap off our dinner with dessert fabulously. Well, he was right but it all added up.

and we tipped accordingly as mentioned above, a $10 tip is insulting for the service given.

ahhhh.......Palo.........i'll do it again when I get my magic cruise :)

Hi NorthernOn mom.....
Think your question has been answered but I'm intrigued now...
In reference to your signature....
What did you do twice before you were married?!?!?!? :smooth:

Cheers,

Don't forget also that out of $ 10, only 40% of it goes to the waiter/waitess, and 60% goes to the rest of the staff.
